Publish Game flow resets creator when switching from update to create new game

Today I accidentally published a game under the wrong group:

  • I selected File > Publish to Roblox As…
  • I chose a group:
    image
  • I clicked on “Create new game…”:
  • I filled out the info and hit Create without noticing that the Creator had been switched back to the default group. I was surprised to find that the game hadn’t been placed where I wanted it.

Fortunately this didn’t cause any security issues this time, but it’s easy to imagine someone who works for multiple teams accidentally publishing to the wrong one. This issue gets compounded by the fact you can’t completely erase a game, it would just be there forever.

Anyway, it would be best if the Creator field automatically took input from the group dropdown on the Update Existing Game page if the user had made a selection on it. This would reduce the frequency of games accidentally being published under the wrong owners.

This happens all the time to me. Extremely frustrating design

I remember this happening to me not too long ago. When I checked my group I noticed nothing was there and that it was actually published to my personal profile.

This functionality needs to be adjusted.

I almost made the exact same mistake again today. This really should be changed.

Was delighted to discover that this has been implemented! The Creator field in the Create New Game menu now auto-populates with whatever the dropdown in Update Existing Game was. Thank you to whoever implemented this!
