Note that this was done on a test account so it gives a error at the end saying that i don’t have enough robux instead of the unknown error. I found this out while uploading a t-shirt on my main account, putting 1 space in the description while uploading gives it a blank description on the roblox.com website. However, attempting to publish the item with the same description and 1 space gives a 400 bad request aka unknown error.
The error doesn’t occour when you put something in the description meaning theres likely a bug in the upload process.
Expected behavior
My guess here is it wasn’t intended to upload a item with a blank description therefor i expect it to not work when uploading a item and a different error to appear when publishing the item

It’s likely that not being able to publish an item with an empty description is intentional, as catalog items are expected to have a description when being sold, meaning you can’t leave it blank. However, it might make sense to allow it during the upload process since, in some cases, you may need to update the description later—such as linking a matching item, giving proper credits, or adding important disclaimers after testing the item in-game once it passes moderation.
Publishing an item is essentially the final touch before it reaches the audience, acting as the last barrier before it goes public. At this stage, they may have intended to enforce a non-blank description requirement, while during the upload process, they didn’t see it as an issue—since the product isn’t available for purchase yet.
Because of these factors, finalizing this requirement at the publishing stage makes sense, while allowing it during upload could be intentional. The same applies to bundle uploads, and since I also work in the dynamic head bundle sector, I encounter similar scenarios regularly, which makes the behavior understandable. I’ll provide an example below with a comparison to illustrate this. (The same applies to all UGC item types)
