Question about a game type. (not sure if its the right topic)

Now, I have a general question about betting games in ROBLOX.
Are those allowed in ROBLOX? As the TOS state, it says that gambling that involves REAL money is not allowed, but what about actual virtual currency like in-game cash?

It partly depends how you acquire the in game cash. If you can purchase the in game cash with Robux, then it’s not allowed as it has monetary value. If your in game cash and Robux are in any way linked I’d stop there.

Even if they’re not, is it morally a good idea to teach kids anything about gambling, even if no money is involved? Probably not.

Playing poker with valueless sweet wrappers is still teaching gambling and many parents will probably think that too and complain about your game if that’s the sole purpose and the core game loop

If the in-game money is earned without ROBUX purchases, and the betting is not like in real casinos, but more like roulettes and coin-flips like on betting websites? I don’t intend to make anything with that because it’s a big risk, but I am only wondering.

Edit: Also The Plaza has a casino, with a slot machine and like a roulette, and you can purchase in-game cash there.

As far as I know, the coins you earn don’t have a value, but I’m not 100% sure as I’ve not played it in ages. Just going off the responses on similar threads about gambling.

In terms of comparing your game to others, I imagine some people may find it less acceptable to have a game where the casino is the core, versus a game where the casino is essentially a small minigame.

The reality is theres a line and it’s blurry, and it probably depends how many parents complain, how you’re going to be able to justify it, and who is making the moderation decision.

Much like the coin flips you described, making a casino game and hoping it doesn’t get moderated is rolling dice.

In all honesty, it depends. It’s a grey area in which a quote I dislike seeing is “If you have to question it, just don’t do it” which is something I could argue on alone, so it really depends on what you’re doing.

Unbuyable currency is outside of the exact wording of the rule, but it you’re doing virtual currency gambling essentially in very similar ways to a casino, then you may receive some sort of warning. In borderlands, you can use money to spin the slot machines to get items, essentially like a loot box (which you need to display rates for), and you can’t buy the in-game money with real money, so I’d say this is reasonable since the cycle is exclusive to gameplay.

Tl;dr: Keep the entire cycle exclusively in-game so no purchasable currency with real money, and try to stray from realistic gambling methods such as in casinos.

Fair enough, i’ll just have to consider this.
