I find a bad habit of mine is building an entire map and it all being free placed parts. Very rarely do I put finished structures grouped into a model.

But this is because when I’m building something I’m constantly making new parts and what not and it’s very tedious and time consuming to manually place newly made parts into a model and also often times I want to move 1 part and not the whole model. I know you can press ALT + Select to get a part inside a model but still it’s annoying.

Is there any way to like have a temporary group for parts and when I duplicate or make a new part it just ends up inside this temporary selection. And later on when I’m done I can just copy all parts into a model?

Sounds like you want a Folder. Create one in workspace, put a part in it. You can Ctrl+D duplicate the part and it stays in the folder. They’re selected and moved individually unlike a model. Just a nice way to keep them together without the inherent properties of a grouped model.
