[QUESTION] Are Patreon exclusive items forbidden?

Hi,

We are working on an experience for a while and want to know if it is possible to have special items for Patreon donators.

As you know, we are starting from zero with a limited budget. It means we will be struggling to advertise and add new features to our experience. We want to have extra/passive revenue to spend on our experiences. We can’t basically sell in-game-related items. We want to have “donations” with Patreon.

Why don’t we use in-game donations?
Since we are limited to exchanging Robux and spending on other platforms, we can only spend on the Roblox platform. We want to hire people, advertise on social media, and have revenue for the next features which require people to hire(3D artists, game designers, etc).

Why are we afraid of using Patreon?
We are afraid of using another platform instead of Roblox. Roblox may ban us due to having exclusive items for other platforms. We just want to have donations as support and this is the only way to go with it.

Questions

  1. Is it allowed to have exclusive items for other platforms?
  2. Is it allowed to have revenue from other platforms without exclusive items? (Just donations, no in-game related products)
  3. Is it allowed to have unnecessary in-game products for other platforms? (Ex. ‘donator’ in-game tag, ‘red’ color name tag, etc.)

If you have any idea or want to tell something to the DevEx community, we’d like to hear them!

seeing as BIG games can straight up scam their child audience with worthless NFTs for in-game pets, probably nothing’s gonna happen

(in all seriousness though, it’s against ToS to give people benefits for off-site purchases)

dont think u can do that i think u need to create a literal bot to do that and use a script to gather info from the bot and this isnt that roblox like alr and not a lot of us know java or C++ or C# so not possible

People hire developers using ROBUX only all the time.

So, you are saying we are limited with Roblox if we want to hire people. What about other kinds of things like advertising on other social platforms?

Your not necessarily limited to ROBLOX, you are if you use ROBUX as a payment currency (since I doubt any non-ROBOX developer would accept it). But you can definitely hire people off-platform if you find someone willing to work on ROBLOX games.

You cannot offer in-game items for real money. It doesn’t matter if you’re just offering them to people who already donated you money; aside from this being a really scummy practice in general, Roblox will take down your game if you offer any avenue of payment besides Robux.

Does making a Patreon without In game reward is allowed?

How can you report a Patreon that is facilitating in-game purchases? I don’t think there’s a Report Abuse button there…?

There should be a way to report a game that is selling in game stuff on a patreon on the game page itself. More Effective
