Hello, So my friend (Music composer) told me that he made a cover of a music that is copyrighted, but claimed that we wont get copyrighted since the original composer is “chill”, so I decided to take the risk but i told him to upload the music under his account and give us permission to the music via UniverseID. If it gets copyrighted, will i be in charge of the consequences?

If I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure if it’s uploaded under someone’s account, they’d be liable for it (in this case it would probably be your friend because it was uploaded on their account and they composed it).
I’m not really too sure about this because I’m not a lawyer so take the above with a grain of salt. But here are some FAQ about US copyright:

I am no lawyer, but If the composer is “chill” you should be okay. Jokes aside tho, If you don’t own the rights you should not be using it; you already know the answer to this…

Wait, I got a question, Game’s like YBA etc are using copyrighted music yet it hasnt been removed (the music is from an anime called made in abyss). How come?
