Apologies if this is posted in the wrong category. If it is please notify me which category is more correct and I will immediately move it. I have of course used my best judgment to determine where this should be posted and this is the best category I could find. I have also done my best to research this matter before I made this post, however, I could not find the answer to my questions.
I will keep this short and simple. I have two questions regarding the Xbox Guidelines:
Does Roblox automatically disable the in-game chat (default Roblox chat, not custom made or modified in any way) when a user is playing on Xbox or must that be done by the developer?
Are paid random virtual items (in my case randomized loot crates bought with Robux in a similar system as CS:GO) considered “gambling of any kind (or encouragement thereof)” under the Xbox Guidelines, even if they adhere by the Roblox Terms of Use (relevant section attached below)?
I’m aware that this may be a matter of interpretation and that no person may be able to answer this with complete certainty, however, any help or theories are very welcome! Thanks in advance!
Roblox Terms of Use section regarding random virtual items:
I believe that this would not qualify as gambling because the definition of gambling is
“the practice or activity of betting : the practice of risking money or other stakes in a game or bet”
Having randomized loot crates really isn’t betting on “game or bet” so i think you should be fine. Maybe to be on the safe side, make sure that you at least get something from the loot crates and make it so you can’t lose anything so theres no “risk” involved
As an Xbox player, I can say the first question is that they do automatically disable chat, and I think this is also true, most games regarding gambling are not on the Xbox library (PoF), (Idiotic Investing), etc. though loot crates are fine I think.
Hello,
Nice to meet you
The part of the “in-game messaging” has been deprecated I think. Each time I publish a game to be console compatible it says “u agree the game doesn’t contain any of the following: Gore, robux gambling, etc” and doesn’t say anything about in-game chat anymore. Before it did.
