Hello, I recently read through the Using Licensed Music in Videos – Roblox Support document since I possibly want to use some music on the library for a game trailer.
I’ve noticed that game trailers aren’t specifically mentioned here rather it focused more on the content creator aspect of the licensing.
Thus my question is am I allowed to use the music in game trailers that either partially or do not include gameplay of the game?
You may use APM Licensed Music in a game trailer only if the trailer is composed of Roblox gameplay footage, and the music is synchronized with that gameplay.
For example, if you play your Roblox game and record yourself navigating a level where APM music is playing in the background.
However, if your trailer includes significant non-gameplay elements, you’re likely not covered under the Roblox/APM licence. If your game trailer includes cinematic footage, non-gameplay animation, logos, or other promotional graphics, it could fall under “commercial” or “film” section and may violate the licensing terms
Ergo…
No, you are not permitted to use APM Licensed Music in game trailers that do not feature gameplay or only partially include gameplay.
The trailer doesnt fall under that since that specifies the part that it has to be synced with the gameplay.
Also it’s written in such a vague way that that it’s unsure if it’s for gameplay videos only or if you can put it in trailers.
