Random City Building

So around two or so hours ago I began this building and I am not very happy with how it looks currently. It looks very bland and for some reason the roof looks too empty. What are some things I could add to make this look better (besides the interior).

It doesn’t look that bad.
Maybe just increase where the window and door frames stick out by a very small amount. Enough to make it seem a bit more detailed.
Try making the brick a little darker. The roof is pale gray, the trim is white, and the brick is very pale so there isn’t much contrast.
Try adding doors and see how much that changes the look. It might be enough detail to make you happier with it.
Another item might be small awnings or a roof section over the doors to protect the entryways from weather and add more detail.

I think it’s fine for the most part. Maybe add more designs like you already have on the roof to make it look more detailed.

This looks very nice. Great work!

One thing to take into account, build things around its purpose. Is this a House, Hotel, Store, Resturaunt, Etc.

If it is a house, add a fence to it, maybe add some plants to the windows, make it look lived in and like someone takes care of it (Or does not take care of it)

If it is a Store/Resturaunt, i would remove the top middle window, and replace it with a sign. Add some decor based around what type of resturaunt/store it it, what it sells, what its target customers would be, etc.

You could try using cylinders to make the corners look smoother, also maybe add some more objects to the roof.

It would be fitting to have some kind of fenced-off grass area besides it, or all around it, with a pathway and some other details, maybe also add some potted plants next to the entrance doors, other than that it looks great.

The overall form and scale is excellent, however, I do feel that the scale of the windows are excessively large. You should insert a dummy using the animator tools to get a sense of scale for your build.

Your walls also look really thick. Unless you plan on making this to be a nuclear bunker of sorts, the walls probably don’t need to be that thick, it looks unnatural.

These weren’t things to add per say, but I feel like making these changes will make your build look substantially better.

I would also recommend try being somewhat realistic with your exterior detailing, such as positioning HVAC and utilities (it looks like you have a bathroom methane vent beside the HVAC system). Placing them in a more realistic fashion can really give character to your building.

If your building has a lot of age, you can give it some dirt and grunge textures around it, maybe even some vegetation to emphasize its age.

You need to increase the padding between the top of the windows and the roof. Also, add foundations, or other borders/edges which break up the wall and the ground. Also the door and windows are way too big, proportionally.
