Random Windows Clean Boot or Other errors

Occasionally when I try to join a Roblox experience, it will crash and tell me to Perform a Windows clean boot via Windows Explorer. I performed the Windows clean boot and it temporarily resolved my issue. However, quite recently the problem has restarted and I am experiencing the issues again. Sometimes it will kick me and tell me that my account is on another device. However when I check my security, it is connected nowhere else, other than my own place. I do not know why it continues to occur. I will add photos when I get them. I am using Windows 11 24H2. An add on to this is sometimes it will just not launch at all. Causing me to have to click the play button again to launch it. I use Chrome 131.

Expected behavior

I don’t think you should sometimes be kicked when you join occasionally.

I’m experiencing this issue on two separate devices. One desktop, the other laptop, both windows 11.

I infrequently get the “Roblox Crashed. Try performing a Windows Clean Boot” message when I close Roblox, (using Bloxstrap to force Roblox to completely close when I alt-F4).

For my case this is caused by a read access violation (Roblox trying to read memory that it doesn’t own):

I just ignore it, nothing special happens, but it is rather annoying.

(I’m on Windows 10 22H2)

Stopped happening for some reason. I did nothing

This is still happening for me about 50% of the time. It’s really annoying and it happens only if I start a game outside of the app

It only happens to me when I start with browser using chrome 131. I’ll get rid of the solution as it still occurs to others.

Thanks for the report! We’ll investigate and follow up with updates.

Literally the opposite for me, It’ll give me the error if I close out of roblox using the X button on the window, quite annoying.

Glad to see I’m not the only one suffering from Exception code 0xc0000005, hopefully an update comes soon. :crossed_fingers:

Edit: didn’t mean to reply my apologies.

Had the same problem, seen somewhere that it might have something to do with the anticheat. I think Byfron has issues with Windows’ Core Isolation, specifically Memory Integrity. I turned it off and everything’s working fine for me so far.

edit: this issue happens a lot less with Memory Integrity off, but it still happens every now and then. Not sure what else it could be.

Coming back to say I think I’ve fixed the issue for myself(?), I’m hoping it doesn’t return and I wish everyone else luck in resolving this issue.

What I did -

I ended up reseating my ram, rolling back to May’s Z790 F6 BIOS update from F9b for Intel, setting up Intel defaults manually, and rolling back to Windows 23H2 from 24H2 as that version seems to have a lot of issues at the moment.

As a side note: This was happening in multiple other games as well so if anyone else has the crash errors in other games I suggest you check your bios/ram/windows version.

Also happening to me (and has been happening for weeks now). Feels like it’s just getting worse - I’d say after doing a clean boot of windows it has about a 50% chance of happening and then once it does it just doesn’t stop until I reboot again or wait a while before trying again. Same exception code as mentioned by other people earlier (0xc0000005). Not experiencing similar issues in any other games.

It seems to only happen to me when launching directly from the website. If I open the Roblox Player first (the regular one, not the windows store version) and launch into a game through the launcher, it seems to work every single time. Maybe there is a fault when trying to launch into a game directly?

Yeah, seems like the app itself is fine, maybe it’s site related? Not too sure. Opening the app and joining a game is all good, but clicking the play button or joining servers from the website crashes often.

This has been happening even more consistently now. This is exactly what happens:

  • I try joining a game through the website
  • The game loads and then suddenly crashes a split second later
  • I try to rejoin to the message “account launched on another device”
  • I go into Task Manager and force-close Roblox if it hasn’t already closed (usually takes 2-4 seconds after the crash)
  • Rejoin the game through the app or try again on the website

I have no idea why this happens. I’ve tried every changing setting on my device to get the same result. I even tried testing it without Bloxstrap to no avail.
