Rate my first Low-Poly Building?

Hello everyone. I just recently finished my first low-poly build and I’d like feedback on areas to improve or areas that I did well in already. It is currently only 56 parts.

Hey man. The style looks good insofar that it’s fairly cartoony. However:

  • The chimney looks extraordinarily small and unrealistic. If it is a medieval building, the chimney should not be so narrow and cylindrical; it should be a three-dimensional trapezoid at best.
  • The square, grid-like panels look inherently dull, especially with the grey-and-brown colour scheme. Daub and wattle was much more misaligned.
  • The bright neon windows are highly distracting.

Hope it all goes smoothly (no pun intended). Good luck.

Oh, and you asked for a rating. 10/10 for effort.

This looks amazing however: you could add some small details to the roof to make it blend in. It blends in, but not as well if there were some small details added!

I’d reach out to @4Data for tips on this. He’s the best at low poly for buildings and would be a great mentor for you if he has time!

Looks very nice!

I like the concept you’re going with; however, I do feel the roof is disproportionately large. Also it could use some small details, like maybe a few bricks popping out here and there.

Overall looks pretty good! Keep it up.

Comment
It looks spectacular for a presumed first model! It has incredible detail that is essential for the perfect low-poly building!
Suggestion on how to improve

  • You could angle the building, so it has more low-poly styled curves, especially on the side
  • Work on the lighting of the building
  • Too perfect, I would make the building a little for less symmetrical, and crooked(If you want it to be more cartoonish and at a higher level.
  • Emit smoke from the presumed, chimney.

Tick List
Very impressive for a first build! The detail is fantastic for a first timer.

Final Thoughts
All in all, surprising for a first timer. Though I recommend, you learn how to use Blender to a professional level, and you read the suggestions I said. Good luck, and keep up the good work!

Firstly, it’s great low-poly building you have. I think the first thing that stuck out to me was the color. It’s a bit dull in my opinion which makes the different parts sort of blend together. Granted I’m not sure what you’re using the house for, but I’d recommend a greater contrast between the colors so they’re distinct, or just brightening them up in general.

Also, (and it could just be the image) it looks like you added a little detail to the door. I’d suggest maybe keeping it consistent and, as other people suggested, try adding small details in other places such as the roof. Other than that I really like it!

** First sorry for my English, I’m using Google translator. **
This is a very beautiful building, but it may have some improvements you can make over time.
One thing that draws a lot of attention to me today is the fact that people often confuse the ** Low Poly ** style with the ** Cartoon ** style which, incredible as it may seem, are quite different things.
Low poly is something in which you try to use as few parts as possible to do what you want, since the cartoon style is something in which you try to give the player the impression of being in a cartoon, that is, not always being used some parts.
Based on this, you can now apply improvements to your construction and decide on which side you want to go, Low poly or Cartoon, (It may seem like no, but knowing the difference between each of these styles can help you a lot now!)
Keep training and making beautiful constructions like this!

Really great start at building a low-poly building.

I think the neon seems to stand out too much as well. A suggestion would be to use the Smooth Plastic material and set the reflectance to 0.2. I would definitely adjust the ambient in the Lighting properties to give more of a pop and make it look brighter.

Keep on building great content!

A low poly building is just a building that was built using few parts. Already a “Torto” and “disproportional” building is a cartoon style building. (Or if it was not meant to make you crooked, it’s just a job of a beginner builder or a bad builder )

I do like your building style. Your construction would look great on a fantasy or fairy-tale themed construction. It has a lovely whimsical air about it. Keep up the great work with your construction projects and I wish you all the best in your building project.

For anyone interested, I did make a few edits on the build.

I feel like the transition from the main structure of the house to the roof is odd. I think the roof hangs over the side a little to much. I think if you made the brown main part of the house bigger it would make it feel less odd for me. Love it anyway!

I think this house is very cute and has a “cartoonish” style, but I think you should work on fixing the roof and maybe adding more detail, as it is very plain.

Looks good man, my advice is that you build what you want to build. Don’t worry about the minor issues, because that’ll fix over time with the more stuff you make and the more creative you become.

Keep it up. :+1:

It’s definitely a start. I would suggest to add more detail. It just seems kinda plain. I do agree that the chimney looks really good. I just feel you could add some more angels and more color if you know what I mean. Definitely keep it up!

I feel like you should use another smoke particle and a bigger chimney but other than that it looks good!

From my opinion, I like it. It’s really good! But, you should add smoke to the chimney.
Keep up the good work.
