Hello DevForum! I want to ask you guys if you think my sidebar GUI I made for a game looks good? Thanks!
Very good! A couple of immediate thoughts:
Move the shopping cart up just a few pixels so it’s more separated from the text.
Perhaps change the 3D-glasses icon to binoculars or something more similar to spectating?
Also it might just be me, the Twitter logo looks a teeny bit squashed horizontally.
Overall, a solid 9/10 UI
I’d say make the buttons less separated. Also I know you’re going for that dark mode type style, but some color wouldn’t hurt. The shop image looks a bit stretched too so try to keep your images in-shape. The dark box below the buttons should be a bit darker too and under the button if your going for a drop shadow type look. Overall clean and simple design!
I really like, you found a good color spectrum for the interface, very good!
I love this sidebar! It looks very modern & something I’d love to have in a game. However, I have some feedback that I personally think needs to be improved:
-
Images
To start off, I’ve chosen to give some feedback on the actual icons/images on your sidebar. I think they look clean, but there are some issues. For example, both the Shop and inventory one has no colours aside from black and white, but the spectate button has red and blue. It might just be me but it looks very strange. The shop icon should also be re-sized as it looks very stretched as of now.
-
Outline
For the inventory icon, there is a black “outline” which makes the image more visible to see. However, it doesn’t look as clean as it could, as all the other images have no outline whatsoever, which makes it look weird. You could fix this issue by simply trying to match all the images in some way, I’m sure you’ll find a solution. -
Text
I really admire the text font & scale but there are some issues here and there. Again, on the inventory one, the text is almost going outside of the grey box. Try your best to make sure the text is scaled appropriately for each box.
That’s all from me! I really admire your work and I really believe you are very talented. Best of luck in the future!
I like it. I would give it an 8/10 though because you could make the “Inventory” & “Shop” button maybe have some colour like the “Spectate” button. Also as @punyman9 said
Move the shopping cart up just a few pixels so it’s more separated from the text.
But all in all, nice work.
Looks pretty solid acceptance the fact that you made it in Roblox studio, but its not completely pleasing to the eye. I see what you’re trying to go for here and i want to give you some tips to improve it. First of all, pull the shopping cart a few pixels and make all the text in all three of the boxes smaller, by a few pixels. The dark area under the icons don’t really give off that “3D” look you’re going for, so you might wanna work on that, probably making them smaller or using shadows instead of just darker boxes and maybe add round, white-ish ovals for a shine effect. For the first two icons you had a grey-white theme going, but you broke that with the spectating glasses. Try to always stick to a certain given theme when doing things like these. And, the twitter icon. Don’t you think its just there? I mean you should make something else for that. A random rectangle with a twitter icon doesn’t look very pleasing so i advice you to make a dedicated box for the twitter icon using the tips above for the other boxes. Whenever doing UIs like these, try to compare them with other UIs made by other, more experienced people or games which make perfect use of them. Anyways, this is a good concept for a GUI, but with mistakes of course. This was constructive criticism, so please don’t take it to heart. Use this as a way to improve. Anyways, good day!
They look rather grand. I like them a lot, just one thing I really have to say. The backpack on inventory has an outline but the glasses and shopping cart don’t. That makes it stand out in a way that it shouldn’t be, so just fix that up a bit. Other than that, nothing seems wrong at all. I would say a 9/10 on that. Great work!
Here’s what i see wrong in the UI:
- The text is too close to the edges.
- Keep all the texts the same size.
- The icons should stay consistent: the first ones is just solid white, the second one has black outlines and the 3rd one has no outlines but has color.
Protip: use a grid when designing.
Muito legal ,mas o Texto está muito próximo das bordas ,e deveria ter uma cor mais chamativa.
