any feedback on improving the realism of these is greatly appreciated (my main issue is maintaining detail from long distances)

Just like everyone else has said, these look very realistic! Your other angle image almost looks like real life as well.
Honestly, I am not sure what you could do to improve them.
It would be really cool to see a video of them swaying in the wind as well if you are able to do that.
that looks perfect, because i can see it better!! the other one was good too, but yea that was a bit to much.
