I’ve been trying new methods to reflect an area this one seems to be pretty good thing is it causes lag…
Anyone has any feedback on how to improve or how the build itself looks? Thank you!
Is it even centered correctly? It looks off.
not really i tried to make it as centered as possible but my computer was suffering big time moving the building
I suppose the only option is to try to reduce the part count of the reflected version—obscuring the reflection more by changing the properties of the floor part might make it easier to get away with any changes you make to the detail
true, do you also think unioning most of it is an option? or maybe that causes more problems cause unions are kinda you know…
Unions will still retain the same geometry but give you more trouble; I see a lot of subtle details in the ceiling and walls that can be removed in the reflected version to reduce lag. And like I said before, messing with the transparency/reflectiveness of the floor part can obscure the reflection even more and give you the ability to remove more detail without it being noticeable
Maybe disabling their collisions would work, since parts with collisions have a ‘mesh’ and it creates lag.
The build looks amazing, may I ask how many parts there are? The ammounts of parts could be causing lag.
It does not look like there is a substantial amount of primitives that would cause a tremendous amount of lag.
This is likely a cause of just a really old computer. It looks like most instances (based off of the photograph) are a mixture between regular parts, unions, and a few meshes.
The clear thing to do is to use tools that Roblox has provided to diagnose and pinpoint where exactly the lag originates from and continuously optimizing the game if players are also reporting lag. The microprofiler is a great tool to start with.
It looks beautiful! Nice job with the reflection!
You could just duplicate the build and mirror it vertically under the floor, then making the floor partly transparent. A drawback is it wouldn’t work with active objects unless you check for them then duplicate them under the floor or something. A pro is it would definitely save lag.
I haven’t worked with reflection yet just wanting to say this looks really cool.
really try to convert all the unions to meshes, and then clean them in blender, unions have a lot of excess triangles and details, and dont put parts that cant be seen in the reflection in the viewport frame.
My guess is that it is just the map but flipped. My recommendation would be exporting the whole bottom part and importing it back in as a mesh.
You could try to take a screenshot of the floor and put the image on a part underneath
