Realistic TD game range

I’ve recently been working on a small side project. It is another tower defense game yeah I will clearly stick to that genre for really long, it seems like the best one to work in right now.

Anyways, to the point, I wonder if just making tower battles with realistic range is enough for a tower defense game nowadays. Most tower defense game developers don’t even add any other mechanics after basing off their TD game off tower battles, so this probably could work.

I wouldn’t say they completely base mechanics purely from tower battles. It’s subjective because there may be tower defence games you may have never played to the full extent of or witnessed.

Also are you firing many many rays for that?

well it is a lot of times on client, on server only when placed or upgraded

How did you do that? Individual rectangles lined up to make a circle?

its actually pretty simple, it uses glass to hide the range
