➥ Problem
❯ I was trying to make a realistic tree for my showcase, I made this in blender. I thought It looked good at first but sadly when I checked different camera angles of the tree to make sure everything was alright, the back side of the textures wasn’t there, It was blank.
➥ Surely I know, I wasn’t doing this right so I decided to ask a lot of people with more experience, a couple have told me that roblox doesn’t render backfaces or is it either that I did the textures wrong. If there’s another method for me to make realistic trees like this, please let me know as It’s going to help me throughout my entire building career.
Select all the faces which you textured (the leaves)
then press Alt+E then select extrude faces along normals
extrude them a bit then export your model
It will fix the problem
The only issue with the above solution is that with Extrude you’re creating a lot of excess faces: https://gyazo.com/f39d40fb8581320c1e01172a8bf27f96
Extruding a Plane (one face) actually creates five additional faces - the face extruded and the sides.
If your tree branches are one sided Planes, simply Duplicate the faces, and Flip Normals. This retains UV data as well so you won’t have to change your texture. https://gyazo.com/004b5f526e6444259720e880fffb9395
I’ve been trying to make a realistic looking tree for a few days now and I can’t get the leaves quite right. Is there a shortcut to doing so in blender itself?
You can use the sapling addon in blender and lower the amount of leaves and increase their size and texture them with image containing leaves with branches
Also don’t increase the amount of branches too much
and lower the bevel resolution
