So I’m building from scratch a game that was on Roblox that I visited, one day before it was removed. It seemed to be rather popular, so I figured, hey why not. The problem I’m running into is I’m not good with blender, or building, but on a tight deadline and can’t depend on another person for help.
I had some Unions disappear on me - go invisible, just before a Roblox update… All my Unions, created hours before that, are still in place. Should I be saving these models with Unions off somewhere else, in case they get corrupted in the game, or is this a rare event?
Thankfully, Unions I had done days before, for a lake and some portals, did not disappear…
(In the photo, the parts for the statue/fountain disappeared, an hour later… )
I understand how annoying this issue is, and sadly it isn’t rare. This has been an ongoing issue for years I believe, and there is nothing you can do about it once they disappear. Some people say you can try to separate the union and try to re-union it, but that never worked for me. Another possible solution people say is to restart studio, which yet again, didn’t work for me.
So what you can try to do to prevent this from happening is once you create the union and you’re satisfied with the outcome, save it to ROBLOX as a model. Take a look at the thumbnail before saving as a model, and if you see the union on the thumbnail, it won’t disappear when you close studio. So when you see the union on the thumbnail, save it as a model so in case it disappears, you can re take it from your models in the toolbox. BUT if you don’t see your union in the thumbnail, separate it so you can see your negative parts, and the part where negative parts would be once unioned. With your negative parts now visible, publish to roblox and close studio. Re open studio and union your things together, save it to your models, and all should be good.
Now I hate unions, so even for little things like a slight curve for an arch, I just go in blender and model it real quick. What parts of the statue disappear? Maybe I could do something for you real quick in blender, free of charge.
Yeah, I’ve been reading up on the complaints of “disappearing Unions”, but as I don’t do much building, this is the first time i’ve encountered this…
Thanks for the offer on blender… I have blender and even bought some courses for $10 each, but am now seeing tons of free ones that are really good, on youtube (won’t buy another blender course)… and many youtube lessons are specific to Roblox… I guess I’ll just have to break down and start using it, but not till i have this game completely scripted… (then I’ll be able to breath)
It’s too bad this union issue exists, and is unfixable, but I’m glad meshes from blender can be imported, again.
