Recently I noticed that the quality of Future Lighting seems to be downgraded, most noticeably the shading around objects and characters (ambient occlusion i think?) I was just wondering if this was a bug or if it was intentional, and if it’s a problem with my computer.
That’s odd. Are you sure your graphics settings are set to max for Future? It’s also possible Roblox is tweaking some stuff, a lot of games don’t use Future because of how performance-intensive it can be. Maybe the engineers are trying to optimize it?
Shadow mapped lighting has more intense screen-space ambient occlusions while future lighting has a lot less visible ambient occlusion. The only thing future lighting adds is a more advanced lightings system with ‘points lights’ and ‘spot lights’ so really nothing changes to static meshes other than less ambient occlusion opacity.
