[ Redshift Arena ] Character Customization Screen

Hello, everyone!

This is currently a work-in progress, and you can currently only customize your character’s primary and secondary colors. But in the future, I plan on having this be the same screen where you customize your weapon skins, as well as swap out different armor pieces.

What are your guy’s opinion on this? I’d love to hear it!

That layout is absolutely perfect. My UI advice is to improve padding on some of the elements such as the titles which are too close to the left side and the grid layout which has awkward padding in between tiles. Also, I suggest you make the background of the grids white and add a 1-2 pixel black border on all of the UI elements.

Additionally, I might set your cell size for the grid constraint to something like UDim2.new(.125, -5, .5, -5) and your padding to be like 0, 10. Plus the shrunken texts don’t look as good as the bigger text so try to make it all the same size somehow :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the feedback!

I’m planning on eventually redoing the UI entirely, making the UI bigger, while moving the soldier a bit more to the rightside of the screen, sort of like this [which just so happens where my inspiration for this comes from.]

Rolling my hands up in this…
Alrighty.

Problems:

  1. Text is uneven, and very hard to see

  2. “Primary Color” and “Secondary Color” are way too close the the edge of their background boxes.

  3. The color boxes should be centered in the middle of the grey box.

  4. (This is a bit more advanced) People tend to want order aka colors in a smooth order. So I advice a bot more rainbow order of the colors.

  5. I think you obviously don’t intend the current character to be final, but just in case: the dude’s arm is clipped, I have no visual understanding for the helmet, gun, or armor (I can’t identify the shapes, and they look a tad goofy in that particular position).

Suggestion:

I think it may be better to have a color hex, similar to the roblox one. Colors are earnable/buyable? No problem, they could be marked to indicate they are not earned through greying out, red borders, etc. Once the mouse hovers on them, you could show a little pop-up with relevent information (price, color name, rarity, etc). Selecting a color would show a little triangle at the corner.

Good luck, I would love to see the next step of this!

You should definitely organised the colours better so that they can be in order and it would be nice to see a greater range of colours. At a glance, there seems to be a lot of pink/purple colours and even the rest are pretty light and lacks the darker colours that you would normally associate with soldier uniforms. Basically, needs more colour variety across the board. Furthermore, if the colours get ordered nicely enough, you shouldn’t need to label them, which would make it cleaner and personally the colour names are pretty irrelevant.

You may want to leave space for the option for purchasable uniforms or outfits as well.

And please, hire a proper gun builder. The shading and shape isn’t particularly nice and in this case, it’s hard to make out what the gun is like. Same goes to the other meshes used.

I like it for Roblox, my biggest suggestions are to utilize the rule of thirds and fix the head room of your character. Basically there’s just some photographic errors. While the graphic elements are basic at most, I think they work fine for Roblox.
