I have had a few reports about my game feeling laggy (particularly network-related features having latency) and I have investigated a lot of causes but my network load is very small (<10kb/s) and rarely spikes higher than that. The only stat that is consistently high for some users in some servers is the Ping, which in some servers is averaging ~300ms.
My question is whether the Ping stat is something that me as a developer can reduce and how I would go about reducing it, or is it just because of people having bad WiFi / being in long range of the server? What are the most likely factors that cause this to become consistently high in servers and what can I do about it?
As seen below, two servers in my game have around the same number of players but the average ping in one is 10x the other:
Look, you didn’t show us the game, so i’m going to make an assumption that it’s due to the lack of server location diversity. Based off your screenshot it looks like your game is small and that’s a problem because these large servers aren’t filling up and it leads to people being put into servers they don’t belong in. If Roblox was to put every player in the correct server then you would have a bunch of 1 player servers.

Ping is obviously gonna be different based on the server location
