Reflectance no longer capping at one

The Reflection property of a part can be set to a value greater than 1. This has happened before on unions, but it can be set on any part now. This can be reproduced in the latest version of Roblox Studio on computer.

Repo file: ReflectanceRepro.rbxl (557.6 KB)
Download the repro file, press the Run button, and watch the reflectance of the baseplate as it increases by 1 every second.

I do not know when the bug started happening. I wasn’t able to reproduce it three months ago. I can reproduce it 100% of the time.

Are we sure this isn’t intentional? I mean, putting the Reflectance at 1000 looks like garbage, but larger-than-one values look kinda cool if done in moderation.

Here’s the reflectance set to 5:

I’m honestly not sure. If it’s not it definitely should be, as the effects are super cool, I just don’t recall it ever being announced.

If this is not a bug, and I hope it isn’t, it might be a part of the new HDR approach Roblox has taken to lighting in general? Coincidence? I think (hope) not

It can help fake really good lighting. ( Not FIB )

I love it! If it’s a bug, don’t fix it!

Yeah, as far as I know, the Reflectance has been able to be larger that 1 for quite awhile now…call me silly but I’ve been using it for essentially an integrated numberValue for a block for at least a year and a half now.

Yeah, I don’t think the change was ever announced though back then!

I swear I recall it capping pretty recently at 1. Odd.
