Pretty sure they’re working on a significant improvement a while ago. They were talking about improved Voxel lighting in the roadmap. Might be potential part of the light range limit break and the lighting roadmap being satisfied.

yup. new light attenuation flags (?) and range limit increases included, already did a dive

I was having this problem and couldn’t figure out why, ended up disabling a bunch of beta features. This really needs to be fixed!

Thanks, I’m all over it. Should get fixed during the next week’s drop.

Do you have any information on what this is:

I’m very curious! I would play VR on Roblox more often if I could… express myself more.

“Enables fixed IBL…”
What is IBL?

“Fixes a bug where avatars may validate their HSR too early…”
What is HSR?

These sort of acronyms are a bit meaningless in end-user release notes IMO, since there’s no way to figure out what they mean.

@sleitnick, whats IMO??? Just kidding, but honestly, not everybody is keeping up with every single acronym that Roblox creates. Isn’t that what release notes are for Roblox? Your suppose to tell us what is new, abbreviating everything isn’t really helping us. Just take the 5 extra seconds to spell the full word, it would help us a lot.

EDIT: some of these releases are quite nice though, thank you for some of these improvements and bug fixes. Although…

Can someone tell me the use for this? If a sound is shorter than a frame why would we ever hear it unless we are running less than 15 fps for some reason.

Hidden Surface Removal removes the avatar geometry underneath layered clothing to save performance. You can try this by wearing a piece of layered clothing in studio, then making the layered clothing Transparency 1

@EndlessSashimi
I’m not able to make bug reports but has the WorldModel crash bug been addressed yet?

If you reparent a client/local script from workspace/player character into a WorldModel under a ViewPortFrame it freezes the game and causes a crash.

Not sure if this is still a bug.

The release note entries are set by the engineer committing the change AFAIK, and I don’t think there’s a specific style guide for them to follow

Hey @metatablecatmaid – these aren’t the last updates we’ll make to the audio API; some changes were semi-straightforward and made it into this version, but there are more to come

I’m really liking these generative textures! Hope one day it could also generate metal, roughness and normal maps instead of only color maps

Roblox sounds are processed at 48Khz (48,000/s), while frames can be between 1hz and 60hz. (This is why you can still hear perfectly smooth sound regardless of low FPS or crash) A sound could have thousands of pieces of data missed between one refresh. Dunno why they wouldn’t play though.
