Properties exist unconditionally. They’re hidden in the properties pane but even right now you can still access them via scripting:
print(Instance.new("SurfaceAppearance").EmissiveStrength) --> 1
Because they exist unconditionally disabling the feature won’t lose data you set in them, only the downstream code that consumes the properties to do something useful gets disabled.
