Didn’t realise that you couldn’t get RunService that way. Well, up until now. Good update!

Please bring back the old studio ui

If you take issue with the new UI, please direct your energy at asking for the specific things you want changed about it rather than just blanket asking for the old one back, because the new one is decidedly here to stay.

what was wrong with the old one? if it aint broke dont “fix” it

lack of customization, they added it and now everyone’s complaining.

To be fair, it was actually ‘broken’. In the original devforum post, they listed some reasons as to why the UI was redone. One big reason is user customizability, so you are able to edit things to get it closer to what you’re familiar with, which I think is well worth doing.

Could we make it so we can add tools / dividers to the default tabs like Home? Main problem i had with this new UI was i just couldn’t find specific buttons, it would be alot better rather than making a new tab just for specific buttons that dont relate to each other (or even remaking the entire home tab just to add a few more tools)

You can actually do this already (the custom tabs use the same json definition the built in ones do so they support anything you see in the ribbon) but it requires manually editing the json file backing your custom tab. The visual editing capability will improve over time and I’m sure you’ll also see some third party tools created for customizing the layout.

I hate the Newgen studio, my muscle memory is complete gone, you made multiple of people crash, just add a feature where you can turn on the old UI. This new ui looks disgusting for me, multiple of people want the old studio back.

I don’t think I’ll work on my game until this is a thing, if you don’t add it back, I might as well quit

Thank you for adding this im going to have fun with it. Amazing release notes for this week. However the new studio UI is pretty awful im not gonna lie.

What does the texture content do and why are they adding it to everything?

2026 btw

make an old layout then. was ruining our muscle memory the whole purpose? we wanted a good, modern and readable UX, and your team had just enough time to accomplish that.

(note: when i say a window i mean things such as “explorer”, “output”, “properties”, etc.)
making studio load docked windows based on configuration per-testing environment would be nice.

for example, when i test with “Server & Clients” i would like for no window to be open, so i would like to somehow configure that so a specific layout appears whenever i start testing.

atm i end up wasting time closing the windows each time i do a playtest like this (mainly because the screen is so small that i need any space i get, which the explorer and other windows take up).

Anything “Content” support the new Content data type, which is compatible with not just asset IDs but also things like EditableImages.
