I want to remaster a game on roblox that is made by someone else

Recreating a game is allowed as long as you aren’t creating exact copies of/directly using the original game’s assets and you aren’t misleading anyone.

Additionally, be aware that a lot of popular games and experiences on the Roblox platform are enrolled in the Stars program. This protects their IP, name, and visual assets. While you are free to make a ‘Remastered’ version of, for example, Meepcity, you wouldn’t be allowed to name it Meepcity Remastered as their brand name is protected.

So if there was a game called surgery simulator, could I remaster is and call it medical master.

I don’t see why not. Just be aware that making an exact copy of another game is generally frowned upon and many players that are just used to the original won’t play your remake without a good reason to.

I would definitely think that remastering a game would be allowed, in fact I actually am currently doing that with a project that I am doing as of now, however I am adding a lot of twists and turns to make it a whole lot more different.

If anything, I would definitely recommend to probably ask the original creators of the game if you can make a "remastered’ version of their game in your own vision. However, it can be concerning because then again, what is it that you are remastering? My advice is that if you are remastering a game it should definitely be an old/long forgotten Roblox game and the reason for that is just because the idea would be “remastered” which in return will be a fresh start and a “new idea,” per say, for New Roblox Players. I wouldn’t recommend “remastering” a current popular game unless you’re someone like taymaster who can really spin the ball on it.

TLDR: I’m sure it’s allowed, though I think it’s a good idea to get permission from the original creator.

My remastered game was just taken down by original owner WITH his approval, this is not a good idea to remaster anything as original owner can always take down the game EVEN if he previously said he was fine with it.

This system is messed up and does not care if you had permissions to make it. :pensive:
