Remove the bulky / large AdChoices button

Hello, recently there was introduced a AdChoice button on the forums. Although I appreciate the fact we can see and request our data, it’s extremely annoying when browsing the forums.

On mobile it’s very large, bulky and on all subcategories it’s impossible to use it, rendering it useless. I hope you will remove it after we have set our preferences, and provide information on how we can get it back again.

I agree. The AdChoices button is making me mad while attempting to use the forum since it’s huge in size. It’s more of an eye sore while trying to read topics.

I don’t see this happening on my phone, I think it is just the type of phone you have on you right now. I have an iPhone and I just checked about this, it doesn’t seem like I have it.

I never have seen an AdChoice button on my mobile device and this being here does seem strange to begin with being on mobile.

I do agree with @DevHumor, it can be an eyesore to those who are reading on mobile. :eye:

The button is far too intrusive and honestly not cool… shouldn’t something like this be in the settings page???

Not sure if this’d be the place for it, but please do remove it from the devhub as well:

Well, it is there for a reason. EU has probably asked Roblox to confirm that users actually allowed Roblox to use cookies and collect data from these websites.

OP is not saying it shouldn’t exist, just that the large button is frustrating.

The service Roblox has chosen to use to blanket cookie management across offshoot websites such as the forum and the devhub has quite frankly unacceptable UX. I don’t care about cookies after the initial interaction, this button should not be on my screen at all times. In fact, the cookie settings modal breaks on mobile if you breathe on it too hard, and the interface itself is janky and inconsistent.

Get this garbage off my screen or do more research; there must be better services out there for cookie management.

It is so annoying. It on my laptop my phone, and is just so big. And when you go to request your data, it sends you to the roblox support page. And there’s not even a category for requesting your data!

It would be so much easier if you could just swipe it off.

Yes, it’s annoying, and very distracting, however, this could be an option in Settings, instead of actually removing it and not being able to manage AdChoices.

I agree. The AdChoices should be in our preferences, not on our screen.

I have to agree with everyone here. Does that button really need to be consistent and intrusive, while you could just add that stuff in the account preferences page? It’s not like I care about what cookies are used on sites, so I do not see a point with having a consistent button that I will most likely never use.

To further add onto the fact that this “cookie choice button” implementation seem to have been rushed:

It somehow gets obscured by the “post count” thingy (whatever it’s called), only in specific conditions though.

the only cookies I care about are those that you can eat

god yours is bigger and more annoying than mine, and mines irritating me already

It’s probably due to my phone’s locale being set differently.

FWIW if you have a custom CSS extension installed you can force the button to the bottom of the page with this:

#_evh-link {
    position: absolute !important;
}

At this point… I’m not entirely sure I want cookies. I thought I was sure but I don’t think the site agrees that I’m sure. Every navigation, every refresh, every window resize - I am asked to check again, do I still want cookies? I’ve been losing sleep consistently seeing this white banner appear in my dreams and thoughts. It doesn’t matter what button I push decline or accept, night or day my cookie preferences must be checked.

It’s not a case of the cookies are being cleared or saved either. I’m still logged in the cookies are there but the site is treating me like an toddler in the ball pit in a McDonalds

Thankfully, we have technology

#_evidon_banner {
    visibility: hidden !important;
}

After the initial consent (the banner), it should just be an icon in the corner at the very most; it should be proportionally small on the screen (important for mobile devices).

Also, should note that the button usually doesn’t work (no it’s not being blocked by an extension).

Glad this no-longer appears on the DevHub (at least for me)

don’t know why they didn’t just do this after you dismiss the initial cookies banner…?

It’s a third-party script, so it can’t cleanly integrate with the forum UI without a plugin (which is probably out of scope); also worth noting that some jurisdictions may find that leaving it under a menu isn’t allowed (iirc, not a lawyer)
