Ever since the restructure of the forums, I’ve found it misleading that #public:Surveys is under #public, since it isn’t a public subcategory. This is indicated by the lock on it, though I think it would make more sense if either the #public category were renamed, or the #public:Surveys subcategory got moved somewhere else, such as #development-discussion.
I don’t have any ideas for what #public could be renamed to, though the change this (potential) update would bring is up for discussion, of course.
Edit: To add extra input, I really think #public should be renamed. The name comes from a time when it held #public:public-updates-announcements and #learning-resources:tutorials as its only subcategories, and these were the only public areas of the forum, hence the name “public”. These days, most of the forum can be read publicly, so the name has lost its purpose.
