Render Fidelity not working on (tools in) characters?

Hey! So i’m trying to make my game as lag free as possible and I know that render fidelity is one way to do this, however since the game will have alot of players in it I want to be able to lower the triangle count of them and their tools.

However when I go to check this, nothing happens, the triangles dont reduce. (Even on the tool.)

Tool in the character from 250 studs away:

I’m not sure if this is a bug or if I am doing something wrong, or if for some reason this is not a thing, which if so makes no sense at all.

This bug can be replicated simply by making a character and tool large and putting a meshpart inside the tool and setting the meshpart’s render fidelity to automatic then zooming away from the character.

I believe this happens anywhere on any device.
