I’m providing a repro file with a Mesh I uploaded many years ago. When you open the file, it should appear low quality. But moving in any direction locks it into HD until you restart Studio.
In this video case, the mesh reverts to low quality only in a specific position. This behavior is not consistent.
I’m running the latest macOS on an M1 Ultra machine.
1. RenderFidelity should be rendering meshes in low quality when your camera is far enough away.
2. The behavior should be consistent across all meshes.
3. Moving the MeshParts should have no effect on render quality unless it comes within a closer render distance.
Actual Behavior
1. (I think) with older (many years) MeshIDs, it seems to randomly render them in lower quality when far away, as it should, but moving these MeshParts in any direction, even further from the camera, will send the quality back to HD.
2. Moving these same parts back to their position will sometimes render them back in low quality.
3. But sometimes, the MeshPart will return to HD even though the camera is far away.
4. Closing and opening appears to make the MeshPart render in low quality again.
I wish I knew when this began happening exactly. I noticed it around mid-May in Jailbreak when our vehicles and mountains were not changing in the distance. I ignored the issue until now thinking I did something with my Studio settings. But now it appears this is an actual bug with RenderFidelity. I would not be surprised if this issue is a lot older than mid-May.

Is this configured by default? Was it like so before?
Certain possibilities would be that the newly loaded meshes are in a “preview” form which is low poly and once relocated, changes into “edit” form which turns HD?
And again, why does the studio automatically makes your meshes lower quality? Shouldn’t the original blender file be perfect?
this is also happening to me with both older and newer meshes they’ll randomly be low quality but when I delete and undo, they go back to normal. After a while though, it happens again.
Ever since beginning of june i had an issue where Render Fidelity has not worked at all despite meshes being set to Performance or Automatic. When Set To Performance, nothing happens. no message in Output that its been changed. same issue happened in May where WireFrame Rendering has not worked for me as well as other, all around the same time. always something breaking.
I am super focused on Performance right now for Jailbreak and I would love to solve this RenderFidelity issue! I’ve been doing more research, and like MartinTiger said above, even setting the property to Performance does nothing to the model.
Here’s proof with a high-poly McLaren F1 model in Jailbreak from a great distance:
in case you’re still wondering… LOD meshes go through moderation again for some reason when you convert them to performance
Just takes some time for them to get approved and in rare cases don’t pass moderation, which ultimately causes the mesh to appear static. and to clear some misconceptions, LOD works in both studio and roblox player
