Replying to posts in Bulletin Board

I’ve noticed members replying to posts in #bulletin-board before the post gets locked, it just recently came across my mind if this is actually allowed?

I’m pretty sure doing so is definitely not allowed (obviously why the post gets locked after a few moments) I just want to make sure though.

Me and someone else cough cough someone here have done it. It’s probably alowed, if it isn’t. In defense , it’s not our faults. It’s the bots. The bots don’t close right away. When I reply it usually says, This Topic Will Close In 2 Minutes After The Last Response this gives a chance to reply. It’s why I think it’s allowed.

@Pyrotenics I mean, it’s totally understandable. I don’t recall a rule saying “You’re not allowed to reply to posts in the Bulletin Board before it gets locked”

or have I missed it somewhere?

I just want a clarification or a direct answer.

If the replies are hindering your topic you can flag them with a message asking them to be removed because you want your bulletin thread clean.

For approval threads we don’t really care either way because we’ll just remove the bad responses from it before accepting the thread.

The most reasonable reason as to why topics created on #bulletin-board get locked is because the category is meant to display rules, schedules, recipes, etc. As @buildthomas stated:

Topics created on #bulletin-board get locked in one minute. It is a feature to post before one minute, so I believe it is allowed.

Edit: I mistakingly replied to buildthomas.

I don’t believe that. Discourse (our forum software) is pretty awful about moderation tools and I’m pretty sure this is the closest we can get to “lock threads immediately when posting”.

So if the tools weren’t so limited, you’d lock the posts in bulletin board instantly?

That’s my informed assumption, yes.

I’m sorry, I’m kind of new here. Please follow what @Kampfkarren said for the possible solution.
