Pre-Alpha 0.04 Game Updates & Changes

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬‎‎▬‎‎▬‎‎

Sound Effects

  • Created and implemented wall-running footstep sounds
  • Created and implemented ground slide initiation sounds
    ‎
  • Remastering the vaulting over objects parkour sounds
  • Remastering wind sounds which will have 3 layers
  • Remastering both heavy as well as normal land sounds
    ‎
  • In-progress of creating ground slide stop sounds
  • In-progress of creating footstep sounds for walking
  • In-progress of creating some air side dash sounds
  • In-progress of creating wall-run initiation / jump off
    ‎
  • Planned to create new wall attach / detach sounds
  • Planned to create some new jump sound variations

We’ve also fixed a lot of issues within the game which were resulting in
poor / quiet quality. I also haven’t included most of the planned sounds
since you’ll just have to be patient and wait to see what we have ready.

Animations

  • Improved and implemented wall-run animations
  • Improved walk animation, it doesn’t lean in as much

There’s not much animation wise since we’re currently working in other
areas of development and simply aren’t in need of any new animations.

Visual Effects

  • Created a ground sliding visual effect
  • Created a gas “usage” visual effect
  • Created a gas boosting visual effect
    ‎
  • Planned to create hook impact visual effect
  • Planned to create hook ejectors visual effect
  • Planned to create air dash / dodge visual effect
  • Planned to create ground sliding variants
  • Planned to create different land visual effects

There’s not a lot disclosed nor really planned because we’re trying to
take it a little slower and not rush through everything at once right now.

Mechanics / Systems

  • We’ve created a new parkour system which we believe will improve
the options & opportunities for fluid and constant movement, this is
going to be showcased soon in the sneaks channel but it mainly just
contains vaulting over objects and wall-running across the walls.

  • Brake hooks were recently implemented as well allowing you to
fire your hooks behind you automatically finding the two nearest
points. You can pull yourself backwards by holding Space or Shift

  • Another controversial addition that we’ve made to the system was
adding in “y velocity” which pretty much just means you can hold
W / S to go up and down while hooking which in reality helps you
avoid colliding with objects more but will be a toggleable option.

  • We’ve added a gas limit to the ODM and you can last around 5 or
so minutes while normally using the gas (Space) and only around
2.5 minutes while boosting (Shift) but there might be adjustments

  • You can manually slide by running and hold C and it’s not meant to
be extremely fast or anything along those lines, it just adds options.

There’s probably more mechanics that I forgot to mention but it has
been awhile and a lot of progress has been made since we started.

Bug Fixes & Optimizations

  • Self-sounds have been fixed, they’re no longer quiet on client
  • Sounds are now pre-loaded so there’s no more sound cuts
  • Fixed an odd issue where some sounds would play twice
    ‎
  • Gas sound effect now plays when switching between keybinds
such as A / D and will only really happen when you’re in the air
    ‎
  • Running out of gas no longer breaks your character
    ‎
  • You’re no longer able to vault over other players
  • You’re no longer able to attach onto other players
    ‎
  • First person keybind changed to P to avoid any overlapping
  • Fixed the transition between third-person and first-person
  • Head, hair, as well as the face image are now hidden
    ‎
  • Cursor has been updated and changed, it also has the stud distance
pretty much similar to the old version but different cursor icon
    ‎
  • Added a camerabob effect to give more realism, it’s really subtle
    ‎
  • Torso and head rotation has been replicated onto the server which
means that you will be able to see others look around when in-game
    ‎
  • Hooks now automatically disconnect after 5s and will disconnect
after 1s if you happen to try to hook onto surfaces like grass / dirt.
    ‎
  • Added attachment ropes (wires) between the handles and ejectors
    ‎
  • Air dash has been improved to be more consistent which means
you won’t randomly dash across the map nor be extremely slow

Just wanted to mention that we appreciate the continued support from
our community as it means the world to us, we’re always striving to keep
on improving the project so that you could have the best experience.
