Backstory
Not sure if I should put this here or game design support.
I feel like a lot of games live and die by the 6 statistics listed on the overview page of your game, but you could kind of split them up into two groups.
Retention:
- Day 1 Retention
- Day 7 Retention
- Average Session Time
AND
Monetization:
- Payer Conversion Rate
- Average Revenue per Paying User
I feel like for a game that is trying to seek a playerbase, it is extremely difficult to get both. When advertising my game, I was able to make all of my robux back, getting 90th percentile in Average Revenue per Paying User, and 80th percentile in Payer Conversion Rate, but on the contrary, getting 30th percentile in Average Session Time, and 25th percentile in Day 7 Retention.
If I let my game play out organically, pretty much the opposite effect happens, with my CCU lowering to about 3-15 periodically, and often dropping to 0.
The reason why I’m asking this because I’m aware that more “cash grab” style games are more prevalent on roblox because of Roblox’s monetization goals, and also the fact that Roblox’s two primary objectives are keeping users on the platform as long as possible whilst getting as much money as possible.
Unfortunately, when you haven’t built up such a playerbase, it can be quite difficult to strike well in both categories, so I have come to ask, should I prioritize getting 80-90th percentile in monetization, or getting 60th - 70th percentile in retention if I want my game to make it to home recommendations.
