This January, I started receiving a spike in reports about data loss in RHS1. It seems like under very specific conditions, there is an issue with Roblox DataStores that was causing certain people’s data to be reset to nothing. Other developers have also reported some instances of data loss in their own games.
As of now, I’ve made some changes that I hope will prevent any future data loss. (I’m not 100% sure whether it’s an issue entirely on Roblox’s end or a very rare issue with the way RHS1 loads data from Roblox… but there hasn’t been any data loss in RHS2, so it may just be an issue with the old code)
While I’m not making any significant updates to the old game anymore, data loss is obviously an issue that’s critical enough to require further support to fix the problem.
IF YOU LOST YOUR DATA IN RHS1, PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE SECTION:
Since RHS Cash and Loyalty Points milestones were tracked using badges, I can restore your Cash and LP values to those milestones.
You must have logged in to RHS1 at any point between March 2018 and December 14, 2018 in order to have those badges in your inventory.
If you request a data restoration, your save data (including your house data) will be reset to have the RHS Cash and Loyalty Points milestones indicated by your badges. (Playtime will be unaffected, as it is stored separately)
DO NOT REQUEST A DATA RESTORATION IF YOU DID NOT ACTUALLY LOSE DATA! YOU WILL NOT GET MORE CASH/LP THAN YOU ACTUALLY HAD - IT IS BASED ON WHAT BADGES YOU HAVE. You will just be wasting my time and your own time.
Once your RHS Cash and Loyalty Points are reset, you will be able to buy back the items you lost.
Since some people may have lost limited-time holiday items, I will be putting all of the holiday items back on sale so that they can be re-bought.
If you want your data to be restored, send me a private message on Roblox with EXACTLY the following contents:
Subject: “RHS1 DATA RESTORATION”
Message: “I lost my data in RHS1. I have read the entire post and would like my data to be restored using the badges in my inventory.”
If you do not send me the EXACT message above, your data will not be restored. I need to be sure you’ve read the entire post and are sending a legitimate request.
You must be following me on Roblox to send me a message. Your account settings must also allow you to send/receive messages (check here).
I will be manually running these data restores every couple of days.
