I’m on MacBook Pro 16" M2 Max 2023, using OS version Sonoma 14.2.1. When right clicking in studio, it often registers a left click straight after, which is extremely irritating. It seems to happen more frequently when half way down my screen, less so at the top and bottom. My display is 2560 x 1440p. Video:
Looks like a problem with your MacBook or just your mouse. Never happens to me at all.
I’m using an Apple MagicMouse, but using my trackpad doesn’t seem to be causing this issue, so you may be right!
Yes, this seems like it could be a HW problem, especially if one input device on the same machine produces different results. Haven’t seen or heard of any issues like this before.
I do recognize this actually! This is a Mac behavior that rears itself when you nudge your mouse slightly.
Usually it doesn’t matter because Mac context menus look like this:
Importantly, there is a decent amount of padding between the context menu items.
However, we are not using the native context menus, and we have no padding, thus this bug shows up.
I would really like for us to use native context menus, but have no idea how much work it’d be.
I’m not sure how nudging your mouse can produce the behavior shown in the video - wouldn’t this be the case regardless of mouse vs. trackpad? I can’t reproduce the behavior shown in the video with either. Can you provide a video showing the same?
Not sure how menu padding plays a part here, but there’s no plans to use an OS provided context menu at this time.
I believe the trackpad is just less sensitive. Here’s an example of what I mean with regards to the padding:
Ok, this makes sense. We can look at adjusting padding/offsets.
As we make our way through the Next Gen Studio interface, we have lots of things we want to do to improve the behavior and design of the content menu. We’ll be working on this later this year.
This still occurs on my Mac and it’s incredibly irritating to have the instance I’m selecting be deleted most times I right click. I appreviate that the Next Gen Studio will likely fix this, but it would be much appreciated by myself and other Mac Studio users if some padding (or potentially a cooldown between opening the context menu and clicking an option) would be added to the current Studio release.
This bug also still occurs for me- Glad to know it was a bug but sucks it doesn’t look near fixing
