My favorite book/movie trilogy of all time has always been The Lord of the Rings. I’ve built old versions of the Elven City/Outpost Rivendell but they were always fast-rushed projects. But for the fourth time I have decided to build Rivendell once more. It’s not much right now, only 1/3rd of the Homely House. But I have already spent quite a few hours on this section and would like to show the type of architecture the full city will have when it is done.
If you have any tips or advice for the build it would be much appreciated.
I don’t anything about Lord of the Rings; this looks amazing even though I don’t know what it is.
I’d love to collaborate a game with you. I program, not so much build.
Persodian are you going to make the background, scenery, and waterfalls too? Good luck with making the waterfalls cool lookin. Maybe smoke + animated texture
I’m going to use triangles for the water to give it that flowing look, I’ll probably experiment with effects for the waterfall when I get to that point. Not too sure as of yet.

Read the books. So worth it. Or at least watch the movies.
The Lord of the Rings is one of the rare movie → book adaptions that actually worked REALLY well (yes I know some of the story was left out but I have to agree to some degree (lol) with Jackson’s thoughts on these events with having minimal/any progression on the story).
Of course there are some parts of Jacksons movies that really didn’t work, such as Legolas.
I have read pretty much every ounce of tolkein that exists regarding Middle Earth, and I must say your take on Rivendell interests me. It’s very much a mix of Scandinavian Viking and Celtic and though I don’t entirely agree on the colours you’ve chosen, the decoration is near perfect. Can’t wait to see how you capture the bridge across the waterfall, that’s always been my favourite place to imagine.
I was actually just thinking to myself of changing the colors as well, what colors do you recommend?
I was going off the color scheme of this image mainly:
But I was going off a different models structures.
Edit: I tried changing the red areas to either a blue or greenish color, but when I un-union those areas they crash my studio, so it will have to wait until ROBLOX improves CSG.
The blue/green colour for the roofing mostly, and anything that could be regarded as a wall I imagine as a very light white. The gold embellishments are fine.
I agree with that color. Sand green looks good on the floor, I imagine it will on the roof and columns as well, but I’ll have to wait until I am able to successfully un-union them.
If the unions have only one color you can recolor them by making sure that ‘Use Part Color’ under Properties is checked. If not, then this is a good time to learn this most important lesson: if you ever think you might have any reason to separate or otherwise alter a union, keep a backup of the original parts. You can put them in ServerStorage if you don’t want the workspace to be cluttered.
I was doing that at first with a save on my Desktop, but I have a slow computer and somewhere down the line I deleted all the extra models in the server for higher FPS and saved over instead of making a new save by mistake. :emo-angst:
