Road California Winter Update
As you know, Road California received a very big update on December 1st! This update will basically rebuild the entire game. We have made this DevForum post so that you can better understand the update, and how it changes the game. This post will be divided into multiple parts, so take advantage of using the drop-down categories to find exactly what you need.
Money
Money is a new value that was recently added to the game. This currency is how you purchase and paint vehicles. There are a few ways to get money, you can purchase the Money using Robux, you can get it by driving, or you can get it by participating in events hosted by Gabino Studios. First, the easiest way to make money is by purchasing it. You can purchase money with Robux by clicking the “Shop” tab on the left side of your screen. Next, you can get it by driving. Each vehicle will make you a certain amount of money each lap based on the value of the car. It goes as follows:
Camaro Pace Car: 500 Money Per Lap
Honda Accord: 500 Money Per Lap
Audi A4: 550 Money Per Lap
Dodge Challenger: 600 Money Per Lap
Ford Mustang: 700 Money Per Lap
Acura NSX: 750 Money Per Lap
Nissan GT-R: 800 Money Per Lap
McLaren 720s: 850 Money Per Lap
Toyota Supra: 850 Money Per Lap
Chevrolet Corvette: 900 Money Per Lap
Porsche 911 Turbo S: 950 Money Per Lap
Ford GT: 1000 Money Per Lap
Lamborghini Centenario: 1200 Money Per Lap
Bugatti Chiron: 1200 Money Per Lap
Koenigsegg Regera: 1200 Money Per Lap
There is one other way to earn money. And that is through events hosted by Gabino Studios! If you are in the Gabino Studios Discord channel, (which is linked on the group page) you will be able to sign up for “Event Pings”. This means that whenever we are having an event, you will be notified. These events consist of things like racing and gatherings.
Mobile Support
The game is now compatible for mobile! Players on mobile now see different GUIs then everyone else, because the PC / Laptop / Console GUIs did not fit on mobile. Also, once a mobile users spawns a car, they can drive it using the new mobile support controls, which consist of a brake and gas pedal, turning buttons, and a handbrake button.
Painting Cars
One new feature that was added with the new update is the ability to paint your car. Before this, you car would just be painted randomly. Now, if you click on the “Paint Car” button on the left menu, it will open a screen. You can click any of the paint colors to paint your car. Take note that it costs 500 Money to paint a car, but the paint will save onto that vehicle, so you don’t have to worry about loosing it when you log off.
Events
One key feature of the new update is events! In the Discord server, there is a new channel called “Events”. Whenever we are having an event, it will be announced there. Anyone with the role of “Event Staff” is allowed to host an event. These events will be things like races and gatherings, and players will get a chance to win in-game currency and other rewards.
Pace Car
Out of the four new game pass vehicles, one is the Camaro Pace Car. This car makes 500 Money per lap. It is based off of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro. The main thing that makes this car special is that it has orange flashing emergency lights all throughout the exterior of the car. As of now, these lights are always on, but we may add a feature in an upcoming update that will allow you to enable and disable the lights. To purchase the car, you can go to the “Shop” tab on the left of your screen and purchase it, or you can purchase it under the “Store” tab on the game’s profile. You can purchase it for 65 Robux. NOTE: Just because you have a pace car does not mean people have to obey you. The main purpose of the Pace Car is for servers that choose to roleplay, which not everyone may. Our game is not a “roleplay required” game, and we allow our players to choose whether to roleplay or not.
Lamborghini Centenario
Another one of the four new game pass vehicles is the Lamborghini Centenario. This is one of the three fastest cars in the game. To purchase the car, you can go to the “Shop” tab on the left of your screen and purchase it, or you can purchase it under the “Store” tab on the game’s profile. You can purchase it for 120 Robux.
Bugatti Chiron
Another one of the four new game pass vehicles is the Bugatti Chiron. This is one of the three fastest cars in the game. To purchase the car, you can go to the “Shop” tab on the left of your screen and purchase it, or you can purchase it under the “Store” tab on the game’s profile. You can purchase it for 120 Robux.
Koenigsegg Regera
Another one of the four new game pass vehicles is the Koenigsegg Regera. This is one of the three fastest cars in the game. To purchase the car, you can go to the “Shop” tab on the left of your screen and purchase it, or you can purchase it under the “Store” tab on the game’s profile. You can purchase it for 120 Robux.
McLaren 720s
One of the new cars are the McLaren 720s. The vehicle is only accessible by Premium users in order to promote Premium members coming to our game. If you would like the car and can not yet access it, you can subscribe to Roblox Premium in order to access it. To subscribe to Roblox Premium, go to Roblox and purchase any of the three levels of the subscription. NOTE: Becoming a Roblox Premium member requires real life money. This transaction does not use Roblox or our game’s Money, so only purchase if you have permission from your guardian to purchase.
Flag System
We now have a new flag system. Certain high-ranked Gabino Studios staff members have access to use the new lights that are all over the map. When the yellow flag is activated, the lights will blink yellow and a message will pop up saying “Proceed with caution”. Please obey these rules, as these lights are only on when some form of moderator is online. If the red light is engaged, you will be urged to pit on your next lap and stop at your pit stall. Then, once the green is back out, feel free to take off!
Timing System
We have now added a timing system so that you can know how long it takes you to do a full lap and compete with your friends. When you cut corners at certain parts of the track, you will receive an on-screen warning and your lap time will be invalidated. Also, you can see your results immediately after completing a lap or on the board by the red spawn.
Purchasing a Car
You can now purchase a vehicle by pressing the “Spawn Car” button on the left menu. Then, you select the vehicle you want to purchase and press “Purchase”. The purchase will only be successful if you have enough money to purchase the car.
Spawning a Car
You can now spawn a vehicle by pressing the “Spawn Car” button on the left menu. Then, you select the vehicle you want to spawn and press “Spawn”. The purchase will only be successful if you already own the car.
Despawning a Car
Currently, there are two ways to despawn your car. The first way is by spawning a new car. The other way to despawn a car is with the despawn countdown. Once you get out of a car, you will notice that a countdown begins above the car. There is not way to disable this countdown. This is to prevent traffic on the racetrack. If your car despawns, you can still spawn it back in without an issue.
Winter Map
The entire map has been updated and there is snow, white grass, improved lighting, new sky, and plenty more. This change is only temporary. The map will be reverted to how it was before on March 1st.
Camera Angles
With this new update, we have a new feature for our computer users. If you press ‘C’ while in-game, it will toggle on/off a camera angle that puts your perspective in front of the car.
Loading Screen
We changed up the loading screen. All of these changes were just visual, and we changed the game’s logo as well.
Bubble Chat
Around two weeks ago, Roblox announced the release of its new bubble chat system. With the owner of Gabino Studios, GabinoRBLX being a Beta Program User, our game has access to the new bubble chat. You will notice that not much as changed, but there have been improvements to the animations and improvements with the annoying chat censoring. Although, with the bubble chat system being new, it is possible for errors. This can include certain words bypassing the filter, and just general bugs in the chat.
Bug Fixes
With this new update, we also corrected a lot of bugs that were in the game. Some of these include:
- Challenger headlights not rendering
- Vehicles spawning underground
- Vehicles becoming unanchored while driving
- Vehicles getting stuck on billboard signs
- Corvette reverse lights being on
- Mustang reverse lights being on
- Supra headlights being on
There are plenty of other bug fixes that were resolved, but they are not listed here.
Everything Else
Everything stated above is not all that was added with the update. Here are the other things that came with the update:
- New Holiday music
- Gabino Studios watermark on bottom right of screen
- “Donate” button got removed
- No stealing other player’s cars
