I don’t know if I’m the only person experiencing this, whether it’s unsure moderators or biased moderators I am unsure of. The type of ads that I see on the platform (shown below), when I attempt to upload them, I get warned for “scamming”. I see how these types of ads are misleading and to a degree, are scamming. I co own a small group, and I am not allowed to upload these.
However, I see all these huge groups like Bakiez, (700k), Boba, (200k), and a few others that have these ads up. When I have reported it to Roblox they have simply said “Use the report abuse button under the ad”, this works sometimes, then whenever they get taken down they simply get reuploaded.
I suggest either banishing these ads from the site or allowing other groups to use these ads as it surely comes across as a bias attitude when a small group is not allowed to run them but these huge groups that are surely making Roblox a lot of money are allowed.
Also to add onto this, I cannot see how these types of ads are allowed to be accepted when they simply lead to Robux scam games. There seriously needs to be a overlook on what Roblox will allow as ads.
There was or there still is an program that creates ads, and the program was glitched in sort of way that they managed to bypass roblox’s generous automatic system and approve the ad, so they may used the program to upload these ads.
BUT the ads will get taken down soon when a real roblox employee and not a bot that was made in India notices them.
I don’t know how advertisements like those get past moderation and other innocent ones get denied. It’s just unfair. I even tried myself uploading an ad like this as an experiment, and I was warned for something along the lines of scamming or trying to get as many clicks as possible/clickbait. No idea how the big groups can do this, somehow it might be bypassed, but I don’t quite know, it’s just full of everybody stealing the same stupid advertisement and the scam ads that get by.
The ad for my group will not under any circumstances get accepted. I upload it once, gets declined. Upload it twice, and the algorithm already recognizes it as an add that wasn’t accepted before and automatically declines it.
I don’t know, I sure as hell hope not. If their system isn’t manual then it really should be. Or they should upgrade their automation so that it actually works without bias. I couldn’t understand how these huge groups are able to upload them and we aren’t. I mean, I quite simply copy and pasted the ad to see if it would work and it didn’t work for me. Only works for big groups… seems rather convenient.
I mean in the thread you posted there’s even ads that have coronavirus in them. Surely cannot be manual checking because if a person accepted that then that’s ridiculous.
I find that ridiculous too, Roblox moderation generally isn’t the best with the way they do it. Some is manual, some is automatic. They really need to have a sit down and sort this out because it really is ruining some small groups.
You can get your account appealed easily by opening a ticket and your advertisement accepted. My friend and I have done it several times, Roblox seems to be very fair with it.
I understand that, but it shouldn’t need to come down to that, they should be able to appropriately act on it when it’s accepted. Plus, I know for a fact that if I opened a ticket and asked for the ad I put in my primary post to be accepted it wouldn’t be. Just cannot see how the big groups have it.
I personally don’t believe there is much of a bias - I’d assume there would be some for already front page games like adopt me, but bias in accepting advertisements? I find it more likely that the auto moderation bot flagged your advertisement as malicious which can be easily repealed if these types of ads are allowed on the platform.
I wasn’t aware that ads like that were considered malicious so I would try repealing it and see if what you say is true.
If it isn’t repealed, there also could be a confounding factor you didn’t account for such as changes to the moderation where their ad was accepted by an older version. Though I don’t think you would have any issues repealing it, I’d give it a try. Pretty sure they also remove the warnings on your account.
Well, there could be the issues of different moderators and their different standards, such as one moderator may have previously approved these types of ads, whilst another may have seen them as scams and would remove them from the site due to that fact.
The issue with these types of ads getting taken down is that they may not be getting blacklisted from the filter, making reuploading simple and quick, as they have been previously approved and moved to the whitelist, however
this is pure speculation and I would not recommend taking anything I said to heart as I am not a Roblox moderator, nor have I ever been I have simply overread some of my emails with Roblox support.
Surely, Roblox should start hiring actual moderators. It’s really disrespectful when “real” people approve ads or reply to emails. For example, once I got scammed, and I just got a reply for a completely different issue. And second of all, they should start putting their real names, or just saying they are automated verification . And plus, I am sure Roblox can hire staff from India/China if they don’t want their AppStore/Google Play rating to go up to 18+.
