Roblox Community Rules Update

I mean they already do, but you must have control over those ads instead of a 3rd party service controlling them for you.

Again…

Not to mention moderation already has flaws, which as they call it, “breach of security” once they see there is a flaw on the object they’re relying for ad security. Why not just completely restrict it, to again save the moderators some time?

This means you must personally make brand deals and you can’t even let users upload ads in-game since they are a third-party.

What I don’t get is how they let Star Program members make deals with other gaming platforms however limit us to not being allowed to do this.

Yes! When you use Bloxbiz’s framework in your game, the Roblox related code for the client and server is visible to the developer.

I believe Star Program Members are their own selves not the Roblox platform. May we please not go off-topic? Advertising of third parties inside Roblox, is different from Star Program Members making deals with other gaming platforms.

Moderation does have some flaws but it’s to protect the safety for younger users on the Roblox platform.

That is one example how Roblox passively cares about money over their developers. Instead of regulating it, they ban it so that they hire less moderators which saves them money over the long term. If there’s a flaw in the Roblox moderation system, instead of fixing it and making it better, Roblox decides to completely restrict it which saves them money rather than fixing the root problem.

I believe Roblox shows they cared for the community and it’s Developers by putting over this rule. Remember it’s also not easy to hire moderators for the platform, and basically restricting would result in a lesser chance of third party ads, not to mention Roblox’ competitors sometimes make ads around the platform that moderators themselves sometimes do not moderate properly.

I believe you should look at the bigger side and the chance of security over advertising and how Roblox cares for its Developers and community rather than making them look like a greedy corporation.

You cannot stop people from violating the rules again and again, basically, just allowing with moderation this and would not bother to restrict it, allows others to make third party ads.
This would never stop unless they restricted it.

However, I have never seen an ad for competitors on Roblox, if anything they should be restricting star creators since they are the ones advertising them.

I believe this is absurd, do you see Star Program Members, making ads in the community or the platform? No, they make ads, in their videos and content. This is not in Roblox’ control as Star Program Members make ads outside the Roblox platform, which therefore does not break the rules.

Roblox is securing it’s own platform, by restricting ad rules, and this does not apply outside of the platform as the policies are made for the platform not outside the platform.

However, from what it seems star creators have signed contracts with Roblox and Roblox can restrict them from doing specific things.

With these new regulations in place, would there be any chance you would consider bringing back a revamped AdService? Considering this update makes it extremely hard to have your own module that you can share with users to make some cash with ads, it would reasonable to see some sort of Roblox made alternative that doesn’t require developers to upload all of the models themselves.

I believe instead of looking at the Star Program Creators, where they possibly have different terms and conditions in their contract, have privileges outside the Roblox platform, and this advertising rule is only imposed inside the Roblox platform.

The main issue is that Roblox is securing itself from third part ads, and you shouldn’t look at Star Program Members as they have a different case.
I also don’t believe when they make Roblox content, they don’t make advertisements about Roblox’ competitors as that is already a red flag.

Star Program Members, also, is a different case, while keeping third party ads outside the platform is also a different case.

I believe you should look at the restriction of the advertising, to avoid third party ads, rather than looking at the Star Program Members.
Not to mention I believe this is going off-topic.

Incorrect, TheDevKing and KreekCraft have made videos sponsored by Core.

Haven’t you read my statement?

Also not to mention, I believe there is something in their contracts that are not disclosed to the public, and again.

Keeping third parties out the Roblox platform, is the priority of the rule, looking at Star Program Creators for such things are far off, as they may’ve terms and conditions in their contract that is not disclosed for the public.

Third Party Advertising in the platform, again, is the issue here, and Star Program Members have nothing to do with this, if they’re also caught advertising about Roblox’ competitor in this platform, I believe they would also get moderated and possibly kicked out of the Roblox’ Star Program, as the rules would be applied to them, however videos or contents they create is under Roblox’ contract not the platform’s rules because it is posted outside of the platform not inside.

This is not a major flaw…

Not to mention it’s just a minor problem in the writing of the rules, it dosen’t mean differently in the policies it’s representing.

Again…

This is not in anyway related to the updated advertising policies, and finding flaws to throw it at this thread is far beyond the main point of the thread is.

You do have a point where it’s not easy to hire moderators on the platform. But they should at least make an effort to improve the moderation system to the best they can rather than do nothing at all.

You’re right in some ways. On the outside Roblox cares but deep inside they do not. They only care because if they didn’t they would lose developers on the platform which means they will lose money.

  • If you have noticed, Roblox wanted to force new terrain materials but they decided not to because of the backlash from the Roblox community.
  • Roblox excuse of renaming games to experiences is because Roblox is a metaverse. But the evidence that Roblox renamed games to experiences right away with no heads up warning right at the time when there is an ongoing lawsuit of Apple vs Epic Games.
*Roblox focuses a lot more on RTHRO than adding game content age ratings so that they can appeal to investors which gives them more money. Roblox forgot that adding game content age ratings can also help increase their age demographic. Roblox should focus both, maybe RTHRO a bit more but Roblox focuses on RTHRO a lot lot more.

That’s like saying you can’t stop players making 18+ or free robux games and then the solution to the problem is completely restricting users making games on the Roblox platform.

That can be fixed by requiring all ad images go through Roblox moderation system. If it breaks Roblox community guidelines, then it gets rejected. It’s simple as that. If the image or ad content doesn’t go through the Roblox filter then it’s not allowed. Roblox already allows you to display content from websites as long as inappropriate content is not shown. Roblox did this update to target Blox Biz passively so that users can’t make real money (roblox takes no cut) from third party ads which bypasses the dev ex process (roblox takes a cut). Roblox made up an excuse in some ways to defend this argument. But Roblox does have a small point but the community rules can be amended to ensure safety while giving developers freedom.

The general rule is:
If there is offensive content in the game, the game developer is held responsible for their actions and will have moderation action taken against them.

Advertisement policies, will you reread the following updates?

This is not related to your cherry picking flaws, the advertising security against third party ads are different from your points.

Sadly, Roblox blocked them from awarding Robux so they had to use USD.

The ONLY thing this thread has done is confuse me. I see two sides: (please note this is a neutral post!)

Team Roblox

  • Other companies shouldn’t be allowed to advertise on Roblox, especially competitors. You wouldn’t walk into a Nike store and see an Adidas ad.
  • Kids shouldn’t be allowed to view advertisements like this.
  • Advertisements could send users offsite, which is against the TOS.
  • How are ads moderated?

Team BloxBiz

  • Roblox has just shut down an income stream for millions of players.
  • BloxBiz is the only way for big games to get brand deals.
  • Roblox is too restricting, ESPECIALLY compared to competitors like Unity.
  • The legal team should focus on more productive changes rather than limiting players.
  • Roblox is being selfish because they’re just trying to shut down the competition.

Honestly, I have no idea what I believe at this point… both sides make strong arguments. I’m confused. Maybe we should all just agree that Roblox is Roblox, and in the end they can do whatever they want for whatever reason (no matter how selfish) they want. If you don’t agree with what they do, there’s always other alternatives.
