It’s good to see Roblox improving with features over the years, I hope it can become even more successful with this new feature.
I’m wondering, how will I know if I’m eligible to receive a message of invitation before I receive it? I want to know if there’s a requirement to be eligible for this beta. As far as it seems, only the top game’s creators, and developers involved in special programs, have been eligible.
I want to know what it takes to get the message inviting me in, because I would really love to test this out.
Another thing I would like to mention: How long is the first wave of invitations taking? Did the 5,000 people already receive their invites? Or is it over the next day or so? I would love to know!
Thanks!
Same here. every setting is correct and works perfectly fine with the same settings on discord. Another thing I noticed too was that the microphones wouldn’t pop up for other people nor could I even hear them. It also seems like they can’t hear me either.
my microphone is set to the default device and works perfectly fine on discord. I rejoined several times, on different servers even on different days. I restarted my computer, even reinstalled the roblox client. No success. I’ll probably test on a separate device to see if its any related to the device you’re playing on.
here are some relevant pictures.
UPDATE:
i played on an older computer and voice chat worked perfectly.
no idea why its not working with my newer gaming pc but here’s the specs on both PCs
My PC:
OS: Windows 10
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5600x
GPU: AMD Radeon 6700xt
RAM: 16GB DDR4 3000 T-FORCE
Motherboard: B450-HDV R4.0
Older PC:
OS: Windows 10
DELL OptiPlex 790
CPU: Intel i3 2120
GPU: Integrated Graphics / Intel HD Graphics 2000
RAM: 4gb
UPDATE: Finally fixed the problem, the issue was the format of the microphone and speakers. I set them to 48000hz and it fixed itself.
This feature is hands-down the best feature for social interaction on Roblox. The possibilities are endless!
It would be great if we could add SoundEffects to our voices. This would open up even more possibilities for us developers. Here are some cool use-cases for this:
- More realistic 3D spatial audio that’s effected by the environment (muffled sound behind walls or enclosed rooms)
- A megaphone which will make the player’s voice louder and sound like they’re talking through an actual megaphone
- Distorted radio effect (for example, when communicating with your team on a shooter game like Phantom Forces)
- Fun voice changer effects
- Autotune?
It would also be great if Roblox gave the ability to create multiple sources from which a player’s voice could be heard from, which would make it possible to create a features like a microphone which would play your voice through speakers. Imagine live virtual concerts or public announcements! The possibilities here are endless!
This could become annoying as users would annoy users by shouting all the time.
The current sound effects do not support this.
Yikes. What a waste of an invite to test just to act like that.
Then you can just mute that person.
There is a DistortionSoundEffect | Roblox Creator Documentation.
Yet, this just distorts the audio (makes it crack), at least from my experience.
I love this feature! What an amazing step forward for Roblox, I cant wait to try this out in my own games and see the creative ways developers use it.
right… i was invited and idk why but like i can’t test it lol? there’s no one else in game that has it
How is the criteria for “top developer” decided? Multiple members of my team have been invited, but some (myself included) haven’t. They all only work in the group I run and also develop in. I’m confused and it feels wrong (as it seems right now) that some are not considered top developers but the rest are when we a work together equally as hard on our projects. Does anyone else have a similar situation?
I would Really like to try this out myself, its interesting, but for most of us, only time will tell.
SetCore(“PromptTakeScreenshot”)?
Actually implemented it for some reason.
Yeah, it almost seems like a mistake to me. Roblox’s Top Dev program holds the top 250 project owners based on engagement and earnings and a few other things, and it’d be weird for them to use that same terminology in the messaging they sent out to 5000 people, especially considering this chart from Roblox’s SEC filing.
This listing determines, if i’m understanding it right, in recent years where it’s been easier and more accessible than ever to earn money off of Roblox, only 5087 people earned more than US $1000.
From this, my understanding is that ‘top developer’ doesn’t seem to mean anything in relation to personal earnings or engagement, but likely some mix of data resulting larger pool of developers that 5000 were selected from.
Super promising feature, can’t wait for it to be released to the general public.
Push-to-Talk seems like a must for this, so we don’t constantly hear background noise from others.
All of these should be toggleable and most disabled by deafult. Especially “Spawn with Friends”. It could ruin current games by letting people teleport to each other. Emote bar could ruin the asthetic of lots of games, and dont even get me started on voice chat.
To be honest I would love to use special voice Chat but not to mention some people can actually swear on voice chat or just be toxic to other people and it’s in Beta so it’s not like anyone can swear or troll.
I’m very excited, I already want to try it, It will be a great step for ROBLOX
AFAIK Capture is only available on certain devices, I personally don’t have it as I work and play on a Mac. I currently need to press Cmd + Shift + 3 to take screenshots.
Overall, there should be no interruption to gameplay (opening the in-game menu, pressing wonky key combos) to take a screenshot or be prompted to take a screenshot. I am glad to hear now that Roblox is open to developing upon this system.
Loving the voice chat so far besides the few in-game screaming at eachother. Thankfully we can mute others individually, I really like that.
I’m not sure if it’s just a me thing or not, but I can’t change or see my in/output devices and most of the time I have to change one or both of them, depending on the game I open (outside of Roblox). Other than that, this is pretty cool and I appreciate you guys for allowing us to test this!
