Roblox compressing this texture when it does NOT need compression

Hey, so I know this seems like I’m just oblivious to how Roblox functions, but I swear it’s not like that. I made a model with the texture size being 148 x 148, VERY tiny compared to some of the other textures that usually get uploaded to Roblox. And yet somehow, Roblox still feels the need to compress it. I’ve applied no colour correction filters or anything, apart from making there be no shading.

How it should look ^

How Roblox makes it look ^

I know that there’s probably no way of getting around this, but would anyone have any ideas of how to hopefully bypass this?

Actually Roblox doesn’t compress your uploaded assets (I am sure with asset manager and creation page).

Well, then clearly some process between the transfer of Blender to Roblox has lead to some level of compression to the point of when it’s visible. Trust me, it’s not this compressed on the texture file.

i tried to 2 sizes the 128x128 and yours 148x148 which is the top in the picture and so far it shows the same exact as in blender maybe try putting your blender viewport in flat shading mode

For me, the blender version is completely fine without any compression around the seams.

But whenever I import it into Roblox using the Import3D tool, it gets all these artifacts around the seams and places with any kind of detail.

Not sure if this means anything at all, but the model is attached to an armature.

This occurs when your UV map and texture are really close. Roblox blends neighboring pixels on images, and that’s why your issue occur.

make sure your lighting mode is in flat

thats true but i believe even if he have weird artifacts it should show in his blender view i can see some of it

Well, the artifacts around the seams have been cleared up, but the face and pits are still compressed.

I think with that method in mind, the only way I could see that working is if I made the texture much bigger, but that would just ruin the vibe I’m going for.

It’s just really weird and frustrating, because for the first 20~ minutes of that model being in game it was perfectly uncompressed, but after a certain amount of time it just flipped the switch and compressed.

Tell you what though, I’ll make a higher quality texture, and I will make a poll to see what you guys prefer.

Instead, try to add 1 bigger pixel gap on the texture’s seams. It just SHOULD help.

can you send the file so i can take a look at it

Wait, did it not come with the texture? Whenever I click on the link the texture doesn’t show, is that the same for you?

no your texture didnt come through on my end , but your uv seems fine and i cant seem to create the same issue on my end

Weird… I guess I could try just recreating the model texture, try and see if that works.

try recreating the same thing you tried to do on the blend file i sent
