Roblox Crashes Whenever Game is Play Tested

Hi there.

Is anyone else having the same problem as me? Roblox studio crashes as soon as I try to play test any game at all (F5). It starts to load then crashes and shuts down Studio. The .rbxl.lock file remains in my file folder but Studio is closed. It even does this with the Classic Baseplate template. I’ve also tried it with the Client & Server player test. The server window loads, then the client window loads, then the server window crashes and the client window remains open but with the attached message which says “Lost Connection.” (See below)

Studio doesn’t crash if I simply try to run the game (F8).

Coincidentally, when I loaded Studio for the first time today, it asked if I would like to enable the AI Assistant and I agreed. Not sure if it’s related or not.

I’ve just realised I should post this in the Bug Report section. So I’ll do that now… if Roblox admits me to the Bug reporting group…

Maybe you should contact with Roblox Support for this. It is the better solution for now.

Ok. Thanks Tech_Tinkerer. I’ve just contacted Roblox Support

A problem could be your internet connection or you have so much assets, that your game is overwhelming your pc

I’ve looked into both and it doesn’t appear to be related to either of them. I’ve tested my internet speed and it’s ok. I can also play games in Roblox Studio and they work fine. Virtually no lag.

The crashing issue happens with the Classic Baseplate template and Baseplate template which both have hardly any assets. So it’s not an assets problem.

I’ve also given extra info to Roblox Support at their request. So hopefully they can get a handle on it.

it can be the scripts , look into the loops to check if a proper wait is given

In this case, it can’t be the scripts because it happens with the Roblox templates which have virtually no scripts in them to begin with.

I also tried logging out of Roblox Studio and logging back in- Still crashes. Tried logging in using an alternate account- Still crashes. I found a couple of topics from last year where a few Studio users found that pressing Run for a few seconds then stopping and doing this multiple times eg 5-10 times then trying the Play option worked as a temporary fix. I tried this and Studio still crashes.

There are other posts last year and earlier where others ran into the same problem and there is no resolution mentioned in the posts. It seems strange too that it affects some Studio users but not all.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled Studio and it works fine now. Why it stopped working fine, I have no idea. But at least it was a simple fix

ik its solved but just curious , by “crashing” do you mean ur pc heating up and windows not responding ? ( or just the player not loading and only the screen appearing , … since its happened to me before)

My PC didn’t heat up and Windows was fine. If I did the simple play test (F5), then Studio would get to the point where it started loading the character then Studio would just shut down. The temp LOCK file that always appears with an active session of Studio would still remain in the folder where I store my experience on my PC. But Studio was closed.

Studio would crash and close around around the same point/time no matter how complex the experience. It did it with one I’m working on and both the Roblox baseplate templates.

One difference I found was that when testing with the “Clients and Servers” play button with 1 player, Studio would stay open but the server window would crash and shut down and the client window would stay open.
