Roblox Developer Challenge 2025

Hi @Gu4rana,

I wanted to ask what will happen to game submissions that have been updated past the submission deadline. From what I’ve seen, many games have had updates—possibly due to accidental publishing or modifications to game settings. Will these entries be disqualified?

Also, are we allowed to update our game’s settings (such as the name, icon, or description) after submission?

Really looking forward to answer for this. Because Roblox just says "updating the place* but other stuff is not a game update but just descriptions, etc.

waht if we for the next game jam make a system what uses https service to display some information what we live update like notes where the people judge can look into will that be allowed or does that count as updating cuz only the json update but just for that masage @Gu4rana @bri9adeiro

too much work  also i would like to have the game jam announcers to pick out the winner at the end

Your game is sooo good! Will be really surprised if you don’t win; everything about it is stunning. Really inspirational especially considering it was all made in 3 days

It does, you can’t update anything related to the game after the final date. You should be fine as long as you message one of the organisers letting them know what’s happened. @2stefani1

Thank you so much! The team is thrilled to hear that! We appreciate the support.

Accidental updates won’t be disqualified! Please, email us at devrelpt@roblox.com if that happens.

You’re allowed to update the game after the winner’s announcement!

Yes, that should be ok! Thanks

Thank you for letting us know!

I’m still curious if we are allowed to change our games settings (such as icon, thumbnail, description) even after the submission deadline.

To be clear, I don’t mean changes that modify the actual games content but more of the settings that change how the game is displayed on Roblox’s page (such as the examples given above).

Please, refrain for changing anything related to the experience during the evaluation process!

Should we expect any anwser when we send a mail? Because I sent as soon as I accidently updated and still no anwser, when some people already received their participation item

I believe the rules weren’t clear enough (and many others here have/would agree), since alot of people do not consider editing game description/name as an ‘update’, this is why my team accidentally updated the project description, we’ve reached out to DevRelPT via email, however sadly there isnt a way for confirmation if the project was deemed invalid or the mistake was excused (The CHASE: Trigger & Ignition by Road Rage Studio)

Thank you for clarifying, I hope that we all can receive a justified re-evaluation since this is now clear!

EDIT: resolved, thanks for your help!

Hey Gu4rana, our team reached out to that mail address due to technical issues when publishing the last version before the deadline (with a small-but-gamebreaking bugfix)

No pressure intended, but do you have an estimate for when you have more clarity on that?

Last year this happened to me, and my project was still accepted after messaging/emailing them. It took a while for a response and even longer for my participation item to be received.

I believe the reason for the delay in response this year is because of how many other teams where this same thing occurred, and they have to verify you are not lying! As long as you emailed them using the address that the Developer Engagement Team provided, and not just a message on this topic.

I know there’s a lot of stress about whether projects are being accepted, but rest assured they are working on it! I understand the feeling, I was there too. They are also very understanding, so if it was just a simple accidental description update, more than likely they will accept it.

The fact that this same problem happened two years in a row, there might be some argument of enhancing the next competition’s topic description that clarifies what updating the experience means.

I appriciate all the work the staff are putting into this challenge, and I’m amazed at all the great games that were created for it!

Speedy! Thank you so much for the reassuring message. Not just from me, but from my team and on the behalf of many other developers, I know we’re all stressed since we deeply love this community and platform, and would do anything to be a part of it. We simply don’t want to miss out!

Every year, this admiration grows tenfold!!

Thank you for your kind words too. Everyone has spent and sacrificed 3 days busily working their best and giving their best, so I’m sure the Devrel team deeply cares about this too, and do their part in establishing a great communication with the dev forum members. I do not doubt their capacity at all. Gu4rana and the others have been helpful in this thread, and continue doing their best to clear off any and all queries.

Wishing everyone the best, and a safe RDC 2025 Journey with no more oofs!

Yes, we’ll get back as soon as possible. Don’t worry we’ll get through all of them! As for the items - we’ll distribute them after the winner’s announcement. Those may have been from other events!

Is there a category for people’s choice like last year?

From what has been said, there is no player voted category, all winners are decided on unanimous judging, by the team itself! Which is fair and enables us to showcase pure talent to the judging panel itself!
