Pretty clear from the title, but for the past few months, my roblox FPS has just been spiking down if I go above the graphics level of 2.
Basically, I can run max graphics fine for a few minutes, but then after my FPS would go down from 80-100 to 15-25. I do not know why this is occuring and I cannot seem to find a fix. My computer should be able to run games pretty well, despite the specs being a little mediocre.
Is this issue only present in 1 game or all Roblox games? There are a ton of possibilities on why this is happening, like for example your GPU or CPU gets too hot that it thermal throttles and decreases it’s performance to save itself from being toasted. Based on the provided info, it is almost impossible to accurately identify the issue.
It is present in all roblox games. To be fair, I use a laptop and not a real PC so the computer temperature gets hot quite fast. However, this issue wasn’t happening a year ago and was just now becoming present about a few months ago.
did you install any programs before this happened? also yes reaching a high temperature above 80-85 is considered hot which will have effects on your game
Intel’s Core i5 10500H can reach around 100°C - 90°C before thermal throttling, it is made to withstand the fact that laptops tend to get pretty hot. But it could be that his CPU reaches those temperatures then drops to 75-85°C after thermal throttling.
He said that his laptop only got like this recently, so if the reason for the sudden performance drops is the temperature, he might need to clean the insides of his laptop like his fan and heat sink, might also wanna replace the thermal paste.
Though uncommon, it’s not impossible that the reason for the temperature increase and performance drop is malware, something like a hidden crypto miner that uses up his laptop’s processing power.
@clearifies If you play games outside Roblox and the temperatures also reach 75-85°C, does your laptop’s performance in those games also get degraded? Because if not, then those temps may be normal for your laptop to reach under load and the issue is in Roblox itself.
It may be something to do with as you said, the insides of my laptop. I haven’t cleaned it in over a few months so that may be causing the issue. Other games do get FPS drops as well on high graphics.
