Roblox Freezing a lot randomly

I don’t know why my Roblox Studio freezes so much. It works fine for the first 15-30 minutes and then it starts freezing on my laptop.

Here are the specs:
Model: ASUS TUF DASH F15
Graphics: RTX 3070
RAM: 16GB (15.6GB usable)
Core: Intel i7 12th Gen
OS: Windows 11 Home

I have tried everything:

  • Restarting my PC
  • Clearing cache/temp files
  • Running laptop on ‘Performance’ mode
  • Tried messing around with Editor Quality: Level 1, Level 21, Automatic
  • Tried messing around with Graphics Quality: Direct3D11, OpenGL, Automatic
  • Editing in Studio while my laptop is plugged in

Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?

It might be caused by a plugin.

I have heard that G-Sync can cause frames to be dropped and some stuttering. If you have G-Sync on I recommend opening the NVidia Control Panel and changing the roblox studio app to not use G-Sync. If not, I have no clue lol

I can assure it is not a plugin because I have another desktop at my house and when I run Roblox Studio, it works smoothly without any problems at all. It is just my laptop’s version which freezes. My laptop is a gaming laptop and it does not have any issues running any games at all. So I do not understand why RS is not optimized.

I also have fps dropping at 40 fps instead of 60 and when i move on roblox studio my screen “shakes” weirdly, but i have intel iGPU.
Do you know how to fix that?

My computer does not support G-Sync. Thanks for the help. Although, what I did try was to change GPU from “Integrated Graphics” to “Let NVidia decide” and under some video settings, I chose “Let the 3D app decide between Performance or Quality”. I have not tried it on my laptop yet but when I do, I will let you guys know the final results.

Are you using a linux distribution?

I can tell that you are a Linux user from the available ram

Are you using Grapejuice or Vinegar?

This happens to me a lot, but instead of studio, it’s the actual roblox player. Freezing lasts around 30 seconds. Try keeping task manager open and seeing whether it’s your CPU usage reaching 100%. That’s what causes most of my freezing.

Well are you running a modified client? Maybe that is the issue :person_shrugging:

Nope. No launcher, nothing. Just pure roblox. It is frustrating but I just learnt to live with it.

File → Studio Settings → Rendering → Set Editor Quality Level to something low, but not too low.

Try also messing around with the Renderer and see which one might boost your performance.

Yeah I have tried messing with the Editor Quality as well as changing the Graphics Mode from Direct3D11 to OpenGL and finally Automatic.
