The use of game passes give players advantages over others, allowing them to reach the best items in the game quicker. A very disturbing and disappointing thing I have come across is how some Roblox games, I wish to not name, overdo this system making games pay-to-win. I understand if game developers want to earn as much Robux in their games, but making players have a significant advantage over others is not ethical. I have seen people disheartened by this problem and I wish to address this issue here on Dev Forum.
I wish to see your opinion on this argument and what you would do to combat this ever growing problem.
It was always going to happen especially with teams of people working on games, they need their money and there is nothing we can do to change that.
I believe monetisation should be present but shouldnât be that âpay to winâ or âpay to succeedâ method I have seen in most games.
However, not many people know how to balance monetisation and is why we have game passes like â2x Speedâ and âSprintâ itâs unfortunate, but has to happen to keep the platform alive.
As someone who uses these practices but to a minimum Iâd like to state some points on why these are a necessity.
Some people like to be able to skip right through if thatâs what they wish to do I have no problem with it. Granted they get an advantage over other players but itâs not as if the other players canât get to their same status most of the time.
Itâs just a given, when a company needs to money keep in mind it doesnât always go to them they add stuff to buy so they can have a livable. Keep in mind some people including my self have to pay taxes on stuff like our car, food, housing and who knows you just might have a wonderful family to help pay for like @BSlickMusic.
My thoughts:
I believe in order to grow in this world we need money. There have been many people and groups whoâve tried but there always is some sort of money system if it works. Like there was a certain group of Red people who tried to make everything free and everyone was youâre equal. These isnât possible we can never have a utopia. Say for example you have to share your tractor. You lend a friend it but the friend brakes it he doesnât want to pay for it. What now? I think weâre fine where we are and thatâs a choice made by the player. Helping us allows us to help themâŚ
If I made a game, I would only have cosmetics as the options for the user to purchase. But still even then you still donât wanna do it so itâs impossible to get cosmetics without paying.
Intentionally misusing forum categories is not allowed-- but, thats how a lot of games survive. Roblox is indirectly pay to win itself. If you have 0 robux and you want to become a famous dev your chances are less likely. If you have 40k robux your chances go up much more significantly. I donât care about winning or losing in games as much so pay to win is not a big deal for me. If you care enough to win that youâre willing to spend money to have a better chance then that says a lot about you as a person. A lot of roblox devs make their gamepasses have some kind of advantages to make more money because some of them have worked for years on a certain game and imo you canât put a price on that type of time, but you can compensate it. I donât agree with pay to win and I donât think it should be in games, but you shouldnt be too concerned about it because you play games to have fun, not always just to win. hope this helped
Normally, developers get most of their Robux from Premium Payouts according to the popularity of the game. I understand how people need their money in order to live and flourish but the thing is when people overprice game passes for items such as âSupreme Rankâ for R$10,000 then things start to get out of hand. Recently a lot of roleplay games start to price their game passes at ridiculous prices for a benefit in the game. I think this should be addressed.
Thatâs 100% non factual, premium payouts canât always get you to enough to pay what ever youâre trying to pay. Some games donât have hundreds of thousands of players in it where it can make a decent amount per day.
Yes I get and agree thatâs a bit much going by the name. It might offer some perks that would help and itâs 100% up to the user. Remember weâre not forcing them to buy anything.
Personally Iâd move on Because you donât price these and canât control what theyâre at. If you donât like the price then donât buy them. Itâs 100% up to the player.
In order for Roblox to function properly, they need a substantial amount of players. If the player satisfaction drops, the standard player would lose interest, therefore playing other games instead
What do think is more beneficial to roblox? The player satisfaction or the amount of Robux other people are getting.
