As ROBLOX progresses with the authenticator app specifically the use Google I feel that it is two different organizations
If this doesn’t quite make any sense let me expound. Google and Roblox do share a lot together with them actually being able to get to the actual site and other ROBLOX affiliated things, overall Google is awesome with getting to places. Although, with using Googles authenticator app, it seems weird to be using something completely different that isn’t along the lines of ROBLOX.
To sum up, I think that ROBLOX should create their own app or their own authenticator to really specify that it is in-fact ROBLOX’s, and give that warm welcome without thinking other things such as, putting information in something you may not trust, or think it is sketchy.
From where I am coming from it is really confusing and you may get the gist but if not let me know so I can go into more detail.
I’d prefer Roblox not to reinvent any more wheels than they’ve already done to a relatively annoying degree. Existing authenticator applications are also used for other services so it’s already a whole lot more convenient to keep things in one place. There’s no need for Roblox to maintain one too.
I don’t really get the point of Roblox creating an authenticator application. Thread has a bit too much flavour text that doesn’t actually get to the point clearly.
I don’t see it as viable, because the authenticator applications provide their services to maintain codes for various services, and it is more convenient to use one application for several codes. I personally don’t see it as viable to have an authenticator application dedicated to a game application.
I think I would rather have Yubikey support than Roblox reinventing the wheel. I personally dislike Google’s authenticator as I can just use Authy which has a desktop app and will sync all my codes between devices.
Yeah I can see that a lot of times too. I sometimes don’t understand why there is a need for Roblox to maintain it, and having it in one place is good with also security issues and such like @ItsKoiske said. So there is definitely some pros and cons.
