Roblox Icon Library - Collection of 4,015 Roblox Icons!

… I do know it’s free.

But fun fact: Itch.io doesn’t work in my area.

Which means that I literally can’t buy this plugin at all.

No worries that’s a good question! Some of the benefits over simply looking up the icons in your file system include, but aren’t limited to

  • Faster icon searching (especially when compared to the windows file manager), as well as being able to search multiple queries at a time.
  • Being able to quickly copy asset ids instead of having to manually type them out once you finally find an image that ‘might’ work.
  • Having all your icons in 1 place as opposed to separate folders.
  • Being able to insert ImageLabels with a single click.

So in the end you’re not really ‘Paying for the icons’ as opposed to paying to support me, and to help further the development of the plugin, and the features it provides.

It’s not that I am being cheap here, just stating that I could use the 5 bucks on something much more useful like a latte.

I’ll try to keep my comment short on the “I’d rather spend my 5 dollars on something useful”, as it’s very much opinion based, and for some people this may provide 5 dollars + of value, and for others it may provide nothing, which is why I also provide the files on itch.io

But fun fact: Itch.io doesn’t work in my area.

I’m sorry to hear that. It was my understanding itch.io didn’t have region limitations! I’m gonna add a disclaimer to the bottom of my post, but feel free to shoot me a dm if this is the case for you, and I’ll send over the RBXM file.

If anybody knows of any alternatives to itch that work in more regions please let me know, as region locking is one of the main reasons for me making a page over there.

Aren’t the bottom three basically the first one? Just worded differently? Like all these points do one thing which is saving time.

You’re not wrong. I answered that on y reply to Megalodox_Official as well that I agree that the functionality and pricing of this plugin is pretty much based on opinion.

Yeah, it sadly does. And about the plugin, I will see about that. Not as in I hate the plugin, oh no. It’s pretty good. But as in that it’s not that much of a use for me.

I mean the first point is strictly about searching, as I can search all 9k icons within the plugin in far under 100ms, whereas searching the the file manager usually takes me a few minutes at best.

The second to last point was more a point accessibility rather than speed. I often times find myself wanting to compare a few icons which isn’t as easy to do when they’re scattered across folders.

But yeah you could consolidate them into, this saves many minutes, if not collective hours of time (in my case) over using the file manager.

But as in that it’s not that much of a use for me.

Yeah if icon pickers aren’t for you, they aren’t for you there’s no problem with that!

No? “Saving time” is a subjective concept, not a specific feature. Whether something saves time for someone or not is their decision to make based on their interpretation of the feature set.

Ah, I understand now.

I was saying this plugin as an example.

Won’t it just be the same thing as being fast? Which is the first point.

I don’t know why I should buy this but hey, people find it useful, good?
I will still prefer free options, this is not very essential.

It’s free on itch.io, as stated here:

So why does it cost money in the marketplace?
If it is free, but you can help the author, it should be free in the marketplace, no?

Many plugins make a “pro version”, they launch a free version and a paid version with more things. Not all people feel comfortable/safe or know how to install plugins from external pages.

yeah i agree, it would be better if OP made a donations page and made the creator store version free.

Plugins are far safer when downloaded as an rbxm file as this gives you the full source code before install to ensure you’re not downloading anything malicious.

The reason it’s not free on the marketplace is because they currently don’t have a “name your price” model for payment where the consumer determines how much the plugin is worth to them.

At the end of the day, this is still a plugin I’ve put many months of development and testing into, and so to continue it I do need compensation and can’t just put it up for free. There is a free option for people who feel the plugin doesnt provide value to them / cannot afford it (which is completely fine btw and you shouldnt feel obligated to pay), and I link this devforum post in the description of the plugin so users can see that option.

Not true, downloading something from an external page is not safer, it is more likely to download something harmful to the computer.
A malicious plugin from the Marketplace can affect your games, but not your computer

Also, there are people who have the option to “download automatically” or something like that, which doesn’t let you choose where, and you can’t see what you will download before doing it., I mean the extension rbxm.

They mentioned before, you could link a donation page or a place to donate.

That’s not the point, all good work takes time, it’s good that you want to charge for this, but the model of paying in the marketplace when you can get it for free on another page doesn’t seem right to me.

It is basically exposing people to trust external pages.

The best thing would be to place a page/game for donations, or make a free version in the marketplace and another paid version in the same marketplace.
So, again, people are not exposed to trusting external pages

Other than that, all good, still a good plugin if people like it.

Thanks so much for this! I used to take screenshots for these, but it probably wasn’t that great. Thank you for your time and effort on this

Does are of these are still visible on the Roblox Player?
I am not going to use in my games

Then why say anything related to money lil bro?

That’s a great question! Some of these icons are studio-only and won’t load in-game.

These icons are marked in the top right corner with a ‘Studio’ icon on hover, as well as give a warning when copying the assetId.

A majority of them are studio icons though, and you’ll likely never encounter a time where you’d want to use them in-game so it’s usually not an issue.
