Disclaimer: the group “Roblox Investigative Committee (RIC)” is not affiliated with Roblox or Roblox’s moderation system. We are regular Roblox users who help report prohibited action on the platform.
Roblox Investigative Committee
The Roblox Investigative Committee (RIC) is a private organization and Roblox group dedicated to preventing violations of the Roblox Terms of Use and Roblox Community Rules and facilitating the reporting process.
Process
We are members of the Roblox community who strive to keep it safe and uphold its rules.
When we receive a non-conclusive piece of evidence from a user in the Roblox community (not conclusive enough to be reported immediately to Roblox moderation), our agents will commence a comprehensive investigation, compiling evidence against the entity being reported related to the case. Our agents will also constantly be on the lookout for breaches of the Roblox ToU and Roblox Community Rules, triggering the same process should they be found.
Product
The final product our agents will be in charge of producing internally is a short document comprehensively listing all evidence found and presented against the entity. This document will clearly explain the claim (rule not being followed), the evidence presented against the entity supporting the claim, the sources of the claims, and the entity being reported. Once finalized, it will be submitted to Roblox’s moderation system through regular channels.
Evidence
Our agents will fact-check and confirm all evidence found against the entity, whether submitted by a plaintiff or found in the research process. It is possible that agents will use third-party services commonly involved in the Roblox ecosystem (YouTube, Discord, etc.) to gain evidence for the case (third-party appropriate authorities may also be contacted in this case should some of their own rules be breached).
Example
To make our process easier to understand, the following lists the course of action for a plausible scenario.
- User (anonymously or publicly) provides tip or lead about a group offering “free Robux” in return for completing offers through our communications server.
- Group of agents is assigned to investigate the direct evidence provided by this user, while another investigates the group on Roblox, as well as their third-party services. In this case, this includes a website and their Discord server.
- Agents begin drafting the document, starting with the rule being violated (Section 4 on ToU), and proceeding to list the evidence (Roblox group description, website, Discord server).
- The document is finalized and submitted to Roblox through appropriate channels by the Director.
- A similar review is submitted to Discord for the violation of their own rules by the Director.
- Any action taken against this group or future communication with Roblox’s moderation will not be disclosed as per Roblox Community Rules’ Section 13, “Consequences and Violations.”
Ranks & Application
The following lists our group structure (found in Roblox group too) and how to join our team of agents.
Our group is private, meaning only selected agents will be inside of it. Any requests to join from a random user will be denied.
Director
The Director is the group holder and the member responsible for the submission of the complete report, as well as follow-up interaction that may arise with Roblox. This rank is not obtainable and held by DaBestIvo.
Deputy Director
This is an unobtainable rank held by Bird9762. The Deputy Director will be in charge of Human Resources and promotion of trainee agents.
Agent
The users in charge of finding and compiling evidence and writing the final report. These are the backbone of the group, individuals dedicated to the upholding of the Roblox rules.
Trainee Agent
These agents are the newest in the team. While they do not have the same administrative permissions within the group and Discord server as an Agent, they will participate in the process of submitting a report under the supervision of agents. When deemed ready, the Director will promote them to an Agent.
Application Process
Applications are now closed. Please check back soon on our group description or here.
How to I submit a tip or lead?
To submit a tip or lead for our agents to investigate, head over to our group and join our Discord server. The next steps to follow will be listed there.
We are committed to your privacy, which is why we give you the option to remain anonymous in the final document to be reported.
Please note that details of an investigation will only be shared internally within agents, as publicizing our findings could compromise the evidence.
Thank you for following the rules and being part of this great community,
DaBestIvo
