I want to know why and how Roblox is recommending a game I work for to an audience coming from countries where there are very few Premium players and robux spenders.
Context: Our game has always had a diverse demographic of players around the world. Lately though our audience for countries like US and the UK have dropped substantially while our audience from countries like Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Ukraine have increased quite a bit.
Our game is not suffering from a lack of players, the player count is stable. But what is happening is our monetization rates keep going down and less and less Premium players are entering our game, which is very odd to see despite a large CCU (300-1100 depending on time of day). This is related to our game being promoted to the “low-quality” audience where almost no one has robux or Premium. It’s possible for there to be 0 sales in the span of a few hours which is concerning if the algorithm decides to punish us for this. Nothing in the game itself has been changed, dev products and gamepasses remain the same with the same prices. I have begun to see this happening somewhere around January 24. Before then, premium visits and dev product/gamepass revenue would generally correlate to player count.
I have looked around the Devforum and not seen this issue being addressed specifically apart from one time: I remember seeing someone question why their game was being promoted to countries generally considered “the third-world”. If anyone at Roblox can help it would be great. But we need to be able to understand why specific countries (US/UK) are losing their audience inexplicably while others are rising (Russia/Mexico/Brazil/Ukraine).
