My Roblox game was recently hidden from all players and the following message was made visible to me:
The game was sitting at 5K DAU and had 300 concurrent users playing (and rising) at the time the game was taken down.
My game is completely original, from code to models to UI, all being made from scratch by myself or my team.
Unfortunately my game has not been reinstated and I have received no feedback from Roblox telling me how long until the game gets back up.
Other users in the Roblox Open Source Scripting server have experienced similar problems:
Expected behavior
Roblox should:
-
Take games down after investigation to avoid removing innocent games to prevent loss of revenue. Innocent until proven guilty.
-
Provide more transparency as to how long it may take for the game to come back, what the investigation contains, and what the current step of the investigation is. This feels very much like The Trial by Kafka where the character knows nothing about why they are on trial or how to get off of it - a great example as to why taking games down in such a manner is unfair.
-
Provide reasoning as to what aspect of the game contains content or metadata similar to existing Roblox content. E.g. the map, code, description. I am now left here wondering whether my 3D modeller was actually creating original models, which is not good for our professional relationship.
-
The automatic detection should be tweaked to actually remove games that do contain content or metadata similar to existing Roblox content. How would the automatic detection ignore these games but hide mine?
